You can't make a religion focused on sin. It's a God damned oxymoron. Here's an idea: Give it what no real religion has - proof of the power of its superior deity. Don't focus on natural objects like solar bodies, find something more involved to represent the people's faith. I would even go so far as to have the idea of Greek Gods being recycled. Perhaps a variation on the idea of an Illuminati. Yeah, a single world rule organization based about the heads. These people have something supernatural surrounding them, and they've existed for as long as anyone can remember (neato twist behind the religion could be that none of these all-powerful leaders has any true supernatural abilities. Like, they're secretly replaced to keep the illusion going). Or you can try to combine these ideas together somehow.

Plenty to work with right there.

Hmm, interesting. Similar to the Pharaohs reverence as gods?
Take note, though, that this isn't intended as a religion highly linked with a fictional work, so I think I would have to go with a more traditional approach. I'm sorry.

Both Sun and Moon create a champion of their own from themselves to try and control/guide the populace....

Wouldn't the whole sun/moon thing cause them to discriminate harshly with skin colours? That would be interesting. The darker a person's skin (melanin), the more aligned they are with the Sun, thus the more 'evil' they are. Same thing the other way around, the lighter a person's skin, the less contact they have with the Sun, making them less 'evil'.

So, like Prpl said, an albino would be revered.

You just defined the Myrdian religions
The Gods in Myrdia live in a giant crystalline labyrinth on the moon, which is actually visible from the planet
They also come over to the planet every now and then to instill their followers with hope/fear.

Anyways, about your religion...sounds interesting
And, since the sun is evil, would they flee it?
Like become nocturnal?
Sounds logical to me

They could end up like vampires or something like that. This is getting pretty awesome right here.

Well, true, but vampires have become a big-time cliche (along with giant shark/alligator, please for the love of GOD, no more damn giant alligator/shark/snake/spider movies!!! It doesn't get better! It's boring the HELL out of me!). Now they are making them sparkly... how worse can the vampire movies/stories get.

They're not cliche when you use them effectively, and uniquely
The whole "it's a virus/curse thing, and now they're evil" thing is getting way overused, agreed
The whole "THERE PPL 2!!11!1" thing is just retarded, especially when they look like they were playing with sequins

This isn't about vampires though, it's about a religion

About the vampires, it could work, but then you'd have to work quite a bit to make yourself pop out with this

Might I ask what you are using this religion for?

Just as a recreational literary project.

By vampires I mean like Gollum. It's hard to explain.

Also see my first post for new content.

One of my old games had a race of gollum-like pale, bug-eyed people who lived in caves under a desert.

COINCIDENTS?
