Me. Seriously.
« on: June 20, 2009, 02:28:32 AM »
Okay, so as a few of you might know, I play the tenor saxophone. I'm sure not a lot of you care, but I do know a lot of you have probably seen Cowboy Bebop. I've never seen it, but when I had to find a solo to perform at my Tri-M recital, I found a piece called "Goodnight Julia." It was such a beautiful piece, I had to find it. And I did. And this is me playing it :D

I've never seen Cowboy Bebop, but that sounds really nice.

Good playing, great tone. How long have you been playing the tenor?

That was really good. ^^ Nice to hear a good tenor sax player every so often.  None of ours really make the cut.

@Shady: This will make about seven years in a few months.
@AFL: Thanks :) I'm one of the best in the state (at a high school level, of course :P)

I have seen CB and I have heard this song. Pretty good! XD Funny enough, a character of mine, Lightwolf, plays the sax. Pretty cool seeing somebody play the saxophone for real. XD

I played Alto for 3 years, but I was never very good at any wood wind/brass instruments. I just can't get the proper amount of force to play the proper volume. I was always WAYYY too loud.

I'm better with my hands so that's why I'm better at bass/guitar

So, I did this picture. Of me. It's not an exact likeness, but it's pretty close.

Yes, my nose really does look like that. That's not a mistake.

Shading is pretty good, but the head needs to be much larger, and by that I mean the area above the eyes. Look at yourself in the mirror. Your eyes definitely aren't that high up in your head. The eyes are also too large, a very common mistake people make when doing a self-portrait, because you tend to focus on the eyes when looking in the mirror.

Keep at it, self-portraits are kinda tough.

Looking at the picture I took for reference, I do agree - I did make the top of my head rather... Short, out of lack of better term. The nose is also a key factor in the eye problem. I had an extremely hard time drawing it. Then I remembered reading somewhere that the space between the eyes is about the size of a third eye, so I went from there. Thank you for the input - I will put it to good use :)

No prob! Another helpful hint: the inner corners of the eyes should be level with the outer corners of the nose.
