Or Madason. I think they're going back to generic customizable characters for DQIX, but if they have any specific characters from that, they could use it for marketing.

But really, all of the main heroes from the DQ games are the same ability-wise, so it doesn't matter. But, for some reason, I don't think they'll add a DQ character to Dissidia Final Fantasy... though Sonic's in Brawl, so who knows?

Hmmm... a game where Cecil is a playable character that ISN'T FF4... I'm intrigued.
No Kain though, or Spoony Bard.

I'm sorry. But I find FFXII to be just as much a spin-off as Tactics, tactics advance, crystal chornicles and Final fantasy 11(&14).

It doesn't even have any original characters. Everyone can learn everything. Their stats-differences are sadly small and they just plainly suck.
It would be like the onion knight but no cool class changes.

How does this differ from Final Fantasy VIII?

Or VII? Or V? Or III? Or II?

Job systems have been around in FF for some time. And, at least with XII, there's Revenant Wings for abilities. Plus, Vaan and Penelo were in FFTA2, and Balthier was in the FFT remake, so there's even more to draw from.

And other than Penelo, all of the XII characters are interesting personality-wise. So I think at least one of them deserves a place in the next Dissidia.

I actually prefer Final Fantasy IX and X above these others just because the characters have a goal. They have specific means for a battle, not something every character can learn.

Uh... In FFX, you could move characters through other people's part of the Sphere Grid instead of their own. So in essence, you could make any character into any "job", though there are some abilities that characters can't learn (Overdrives, Aeons, breathing underwater)

True, but their stats differed so much, you could still assign them to classes. With FFVIII, you could even raise the stats with magic.

At least the characters in VII, VIII and X had overdrives and stuff that actually was more than just different cutscenes for dealing 9999 damage.

Also, a bit harder to get all abilities in X, you actually had a lot of nodes everywhere and paths to take, nods to unlock ect.
In XII you could pretty much take anything anytime. Bored the shizzle out of me.

And the FFXII characters were in the games belonging to Ivalice. Because that's the world they come from - Ivalice the Final fantasy tactics world.
And no, the characters in XII is like Star wars although Chewbaca is a hot furry and Luke wants to be a skypirate like Han Solo. Also Darth vader is in fact Obi wans twin brother.

Also, yes. FFIX was the best game so far. Many abilities but everyone couldn't learn everything. Or at least not from the same piece of equipment.

Exactly. FFIX had BIG differences of character abilities. In FFX, you can learn everything, but not as effective. In FFIX you can't learn peeps all abilities. Only Vivi gets black magic, etc etc.

I liked FF8 the best, although I am thinking FFX13 will change that.

Hoping it's better than FF8. Since every other FF has been crap, and that's sating something from me.
