Squmpkins
« on: August 12, 2009, 09:45:46 PM »
So, I'm a gardener at my school. I plant the seeds, I weed the place, I dig holes, etc for our school gardens. Putting the pumpkin plant and yellow squash plant, I knew I would get a hybrid. The result are some hybrids I call Squampkin (dominate pumpkin traits) which came from the Yellow Squash plants (The pumpkin fruits died off from disease).

These are Squmpkins

Just so you know how big they are, I put one beside a marker (to represent the average length of yellow squashes, I had none to pick and compare it to at the moment).

Well, I haven't opened one up yet or tasted one. So, I'll tell you about that later. I dunno if the seeds will grow or not, I beleive they should, since this pumpkin type was related to the squash.

Reminds me of the Tomacco for no obvious reason.
Pretty cool, although I personally think it'd taste like hell.

Pumpkins are squashes. I eat winter squashes all the time (butternut, buttercup, etc). So, I don't think it'll be bad.

I just don't like pumpkin.
Or squash.

Whatever, it is interesting though.

the genetics of vegetative things are fun to mess with. I mostly just apply my genetic splicing to cannibis plants, but I mean, to each their own.
Good on you.

Im going to go out on a limb and say that if your squmpkin were roasted with some herbs, it would be delicious.

You should try messing around with some peppermint beets and some large white beets. Im willing to bet you would get a really cool, large, striped beet. Vegetables are pretty much awesome.

Wouldn't be so bad if it had a bit of a pumpkin flavor.

Well, if they become hostile, we can hide while they deal with their mortal enemies, the vegetarians and vegans. Quick! To the shelter!
