Dragon Age: Origins
« on: November 11, 2009, 03:28:48 PM »
Is it any good? I'm thinking about getting it, but I'm curious, since it's by Bioware. Apparently, Bioware
are a fantastic game company. I bought Mass Effect a few months ago full of excitement, to my disappointment,
it was absolutely ****ing awful beyond belief. One of the worst games I've ever played in my life. In fact,
I won't class it as a game. I'll call it a chore instead. However, reviews online gave it like 95%+ which is weird.

Apparently they're hit and miss, Bioware games. Jade Empire, Mass Effect and KOTOR look fantastic and get great reviews...
but I'm kind of worried that Dragon Age will be horrificly bad. Do you think I'd like it if I said these are a list of games
that are story-driven and long? (Just to give you an idea of what I like)

Final Fantasy 10
Disgaea
HL2
Warlords Battlecry 3
All Zelda games
Fable
Bioshock
Fallout 3

Thankls to anyone who's played it!

I'm really wondering about this too. I've been relentlessly assaulted by advertisements on several websites. It would be nice to know if the thing that they're shoving in my face every ten seconds is actually good.

Bioware games are the only games in the world where you don't go on
the reviews.

There are others that get overblown by reviews. For example, pretty much any game by Square will get great reviews, even if the recent games have been disappointing in some way or another (no Gilgamesh as a bonus character yet have his theme? >_o). Well, that was more a joke, but not all their games are good, yet they get called good. Kinda makes me think that some game companies pay off their reviewers.

It's hard to go off of reviews these days. You're better off asking players for their opinions. You can also get a large amount of reviews from trusted sources, and kind of average them. Oh, and don't go off of scores and numbers. Read the reviews if you want the info. A game could be perfect in every way, but have one critical flaw that you simply will not tolerate. If you don't read, you might not know that it's going to become an issue until too late.

From what I understand, it's like the Baldurs Gate games that BioWare did before temporarily moving to consoles.
Meaning awesome.

You see, I LOVE Baldur's Gate, anything strategic or anything Roguelike. That's why
I'm seriously considering getting it... but will it just be awful? Arrrgghh!

I'm hearing that it's pretty damn good, somewhat difficult, and perhaps a little bit cliche, but that's only what I've heard.

Once again, I'm waiting for Hobo to show up.

Borderlands.
Brokeded my computer :[

The five seconds I played of it though was pretty sweet.
Too bad the fixed computer's graphics card doesn't support it.

Borderlands is a great game if you have one or two friends to
Skype it up with/trade items with. Single player is... okayish.

I feel bad 'cos I stole an Atlas X3 corrosive sniper that's lime green
and white and glows when my friend wasn't looking :p

My friend is all into Dragon age right now. Although it doesn't sound unique or something. Haven't seen it either but he pretty much described it as awesome but kinda boring in the long run. And the end was apparently kinda sad, as in depressing, as in bad.
