Try Sharon Jones and the dap kings. I saw them a while back. Motown  with a super lo-fi sound...youd swear it came out in 65. but its new. its also quite good.

Bon Iver is nice if you want to boost your hipster cred and chill out without many drums and maybe have a nice nap. Likewise, try Jose gonzalez. His guitars will blow your mind in the most mellow way possible.

Cool kids.... east coast hip hop....old school sounding. So good though.
Immortal technique has some insane lyrics, that go beyond the standard `Niggas, playas bitches`formula.

Metal: Bison BC. They usually end up going by just `Bison`though. Its like mastodon but way less proggy. If you want tech metal, hit up dillinger esc plan. Otherwise, just go buy more mastodon
