Funny Dragonball dubbing
« on: January 05, 2010, 03:40:03 AM »
So, today I was browsing around DBGT episodes, remembering the days when I used to own the sub VHS tapes as a child. And I was looking around for some episodes in Japanese with the recap. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any with them in Japanese. However, I did find some with the HILARIOUS Portuguese dub. Now, given that I acknowledge that the US voice acting can be funny enough and the UK dub has an AWFUL reputation (a link I shall provide) with their voice acting. But... well... just watch the recap here!

Over acting much? I mean, LISTEN TO THIS! Was Goku voiced by one of those guys from the Spanish soap operas?

Now I wasn't a big GT fan, GT wasn't too great. But I found some things enjoyable like the music and such.

Oh and here's a video with funny UK dub samples

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I though they were pretty awesome.

Not the UK dubs, though. Total ****.

Yes Archem, Italian Goku's heroic voice is awesome and Greek Goku has... a... whimper of a scream, but the deep voice of the blue guy I saw makes up for it!

These voices are epic! Greek Goku is hilarious. And Hercule sounds like Fred Fred Burger in it.

they called Piccolo "Satan"

Awww.... those scenes of Picollo + Gohan could've been much more interesting.

Oh, and they called Piccolo "Satan". I mean, wtf?

In the french books (which means probably the same for the show) Satan was the name given to Hercule instead.

From Wikipedia
"Hercule, known as Mister Herculese Satan in Funimation's VHS dubbed release of the "Great Saiyaman" episodes,[24] and as Mister Satan (ミスター・サタン, Misutā Satan?) in Japanese versions and Funimation's uncut releases [...]"

So apparently you are quite right. I remember seeing "Hercule" in some Dragon Ball game, so I assumed it was his "real" name.

Well the French intro was pretty lame as well.

Also, about Satan and kids, that wouldn't even surprise me.
