So I'm up to the gym leader who has the really strong Poliwrath. The only pokemon I have that is anywhere near it in level is my Feraligatr. My Feraligatr has Dark and Water type moves. Poliwrath ABSORBS water, and is resistant to Dark. And it's just using focus punch every turn, wiping off more than half my health. WHAT FUN

That's me ever since I started playing Pokémon again (skipped Gen III). Either the game got a fuckton harder over that generation gap, or I've gotten soft. Very soft.

Also, I haven't been training just six guys for the whole game, building a near-invincible team.

This was my end strategy- Use Nidorina to poison the ****er.

Then it's just a waiting game of using potions every turn to avoid death by focus punch. ****ing hell, that was dull. Now I can fly, though.

Wow. I must've been really lucky. When I fought that thing, I used Noctowl. I kept using Confusion while was using the whole "charging his focus" thingy, then he failed his focus punch, and was stared to death at last.

The main issue is, if you miss once you get into this spiral of POTION, FOCUS PUNCH, POTION, FOCUS PUNCH and doing anything is likely to kill you.

Sometimes, very rarely, you'll come across a Pokemon with a different colouration than normal, and it'll have a sparkle effect when appearing to battle. This is called a "Shiny" and they're VERY rare. They don't do anything but look pretty though, they're just normal Pokemon. Red Gyrados is the only example you've likely seen.
