Final Fantasy Essence
« on: March 30, 2010, 09:35:10 PM »

-----------------------------------

Welcome to my Final Fantasy Essence thread! I totally thought I should post this here, even though I really shouldn't. I mean, I posted this in a lot of places so I might not keep up with it. I'm just trying to see who is actually hyped. This game is pretty much dead on HBgames and Gamingw. It seems active on Rpgmaker.net. So, I'll try this one last place. And no, this isn't the only reason I joined. I've been watching this boards since... 2004. So, I'm pleased to announce...

---------------------------
Storyline:

Prologue
Hundreds of years ago, Salfor, a nation of great power, found that the Earth around them was dying. They didn't neccesarly know what was causing it. The scientists and soldiers of Salfor searched the whole country to find that the mountains of the north had a strange forming. The earth of the mountains was very brittle and breakable. For 50 years they mined in those mountains until they found what they thought of was just crystal. But the priests felt a stronger precense... almost as if they were actually touching God. They found what they named the "Essence of Life". The crystalized matter was made up of strong spiritual power and, in actuality, souls of the dead. Scholars and scientists wrote books on the Essence. Though the word spred across the world. One kingdom, Aertes, found this as a great operatunity to build the largest and strongest empire. Aertes explored the mines until they finally reached the Essence. Soldiers were more than excited and they wanted power that instant. The soldiers tried eating the substance but... that didn't do anything but kill a few. They mined some of the material out and took it back to their kingdom for tests. They tried many experiments and they all had failed. Every scientist that experimented wrote short papers and even books on what happened. Future generations will get a chance to try themselves.
Present Storyline
-Present story-
Once stood a village off the coast of the largest capital in the world... Soldiers came into the village, asking for cooperation to hand over their children so that they could build the largest army to take the world in to their own hands. Many of these parents did not want to cooperate, so the consequences were severe. Their village was burned down and many people died. A large group set off on a voyage to escape this horrific morning. Many of these people were ones who gave up their children and ones who escaped without cooperating with the soldiers.
Now, 11 years later, Eldia, the new formed kingdom, has edged on a war against the empire, yet it was a new empire; Qaros, The Capital. This newly formed empire is being ran by Dice Qaros, one of the ones who had been infused with this Essence power. Xyla, the scientist behind all of this, is helping Dice try to take over the world with magic warriors. They are even doing stuff the old empire, The Capital, would have done: use its own people. Eldia will wadge war, though Eldia has a secret too.
-----------------
Characters:
Xander Valance - Samurai
Age 19
 - As a boy, he suffered many traumas due to Qaros, previously named "The Capital." His village was attacked because The Capital wanted to get their hands on the children that reside there to infuse them with a power that could be blocked by
spiritual power, due to it currently forming inside the child, normally fully developed at age 20. The Capital's army came to
the cloest village, Xander's home village, and asked for them to co-operate. They would use their children as, basicly,
weapons to defeat Salfor. Xander's sister, Isuna, was one of the children taken away. He also seen his own mother's throat
slit because she wouldn't co-operate with The Capital's army. Xander escaped on a boat with the new founded colony.

Keira - Gunner
Age 17
 - Not much is known about her past due to what the Essence had done to her memories. Though she remembers training
as a soldier for the empire as a gun girl. She is very talented in what she does. She doesn't really hate anyone. She is shy
and peaceful and loves all of her friends. She tries to do her duty; what she was raised to do: to be a WEAPON.

Laine Marley - Summoner
Age 15
 - A cute little farmgirl who's parents were lost in the attack on the Eldian village, 11 years before. She loves the
outdoors and animals. Her white and Black, along with her summoning skills, are most powerful. She has a small crush on Storm, but she understands that she could never be with him. Storm really just treats her like a daughter.

Arjian "Storm" Highwind - Dragoon
Age 26
 - A home citizen of Qaros, back then The Capital. His mother willingly, among many parents, had him go through the process of becoming a magic soldier. Although he didn't process all the way. He has power throughout his muscles but is actually the first to have no  bad effects. Though it could be because he didn't complete his Essence infusion. The first thing he did was set out to kill his mother with no regret. He hates Qaros and hides out in the small city of Iren, a city of Qaros. Keira knows him because her home is near Iren and she knows him as a  best friend.

Spring Heines - Monk
Age: 21
 - A serious yet friendly girl of Salfor. She is in the army and is prepared to go to war any day, though Salfor stays neutral. Cid, her father, is developing a new kind of Essence and she helps him out. She hopes to have a working Essence infusion done by the time Salfor ever goes to war. And if there is, she wants to be infused with it so she can have better fighting skills.

As you could tell, I was getting a bit more "Eh" about the story towards the end. I had something going but went cliche. The story isn't too finalized... but yeah. I've been with this project for about a year and a half. I have gone through 4million Xander Sprites X.x...

But anyway!

Thanks for reading! Hope I can get these spaces filled!

A bit sad to see someone of obvious talent doing a final fantasy ripoff.

This game looks pretty professional but it kind of rips from the final fantasy 7 story line a lot.  Mako energy = Essence  -  Infused Soldiers were indeed used in FF7.  Overall, it's a pretty cool project and i wish you and your crew the best of luck on getting it out.  I agree with Sai though; I think you have incredible talent as a game designer and wouldn't mind seeing an original project one day.

I'm also working on a game called Audria... so that's the original. FFEssence is just a much more serious game. And yeah I know it kinda pulls from FF7... which is funny because 7 is my least favorite in the series XD... I've been doing this for quite some time, now. There are various games I help out with. FFV-2 (by lex) and Beyond the Labyrinth (by Sinmora/Ted).

Bbbuuuttt, with the whole FF7 thing. I tried to make it more like FF6 instead, but it did end up with FF7. But don't worry, the game play and in-game story is completely different.

Wow! O_O This is probably the best put together FF fan game I've seen. Wouldn't mind seeing some "in battle" battle shots. By the way...Is FFV-2 titled by another name like "FFV-2 Time and Time again"? Because last time I tried to find that game I couldn't and realy wanted to play it again.

Well time and again was a FFIV fangame. FFV-2 is based off of Legend of the Crystals. There is no place you can find it on the net because it hasn't been released or even announced yet.

There are some old videos up by the name of akiochild on youtube. Those are 2 really old rm2k3 videos. Me and Lex found something a lot better than that =) (rmxp). Oh, and  if you want to see in battle shots, look at the battle theme vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH8Bo2ckR9g). It has a glimpse of the battle system with a cut battle theme =)

@Lonewolf
Never seen those before

Nice mapping & charaset style i love the final fantasy 1-5 look specially for the little characters aspect .

im not very friend of certain fangames style specially for final fantasy is think tha is because i see a lot of fangames based in final fantasy universe and at this point the game loses a bif of originality when you uses a big franchise for create your game .

between personal feelings about fangames good luck whit the proyect , in general looks good n_x

You should take the "Final Fantasy" out of the title and just make it a game on its own. It looks great :D

I agree with Zerl, nobody will take a Final Fantasy fangame seriously, this should really be it's own project.

I totally agree! I reckon it wouldn't be too straining to change a few things here and there. You'd certainly get
much more recognition.

I think you're all being kind of rude by asking him to remove the final fantasy name. He already said he's got another original project going, and it's obvious he's put a lot of work into this. If he wants to call it Final Fantasy Essence, then that should be fine.
