Hey guys
« on: October 03, 2010, 04:02:14 AM »
As most of you noticed, Charas's been quite dead lately. Anyone has any suggestions that could make the place more lively? Community projects, new forum stuff, site stuff, anything.

I'm just asking, by the way. Not promising that any of it will actually be done. But its great to hear what people have to say. :]]

Aand. Where else do you guys usually go to, when you are not on Charas? Just curious. We have some people here that are very different from each other. Would be interesting finding out what they do on the internet when they are not on the big blue page.

To make it more alive, maybe add more resources for other game makers. Problably wouldnt do much good though.

I unfortunately have no idea what could resurrect Charas beside having more people. And that can't really be helped...

When I'm not on Charas, I'm either at school or playing that piece of sh*t that is CoD:MW2.

Anyway, to answer the question of where I am, I have a list of links.

http://www.facebook.com
http://www.micromarching.com
http://www.fantasymarchingarts.com
http://www.youtube.com
http://www.failblog.org

That is basically everything I do when I'm not on Charas when I am on the internet at least.

When I'm not on Charas?

WoW
GamingW
Facebook
Yantar
and uh, I talk to people a lot on Steam. And play games on Steam

When I'm not actually on the computer at all, I tend to play console games, read, watch TV/movies, or exercise. I ****ing hate exercise.

In regards to your first question; can't fix what ain't broke. I like charas as it is, although a little more all of all activitiy would be nice, but it's pretty much fine.

I know there's been contests before, but how about a little more often? Contests get me pumped up, that's for sure. Maybe adding more will get people more excited.

As for when I'm not on Charas...
-www.gamefaqs.com (barely go here, though)

And when I'm not online...usually on this computer working on my game.
Don't really play much video games, but I guess that's because there's not much around.

TvTropes

My thoughts exactly.

As for new stuff, I have no clue... I doubt a forum-made game will really draw anyone new.  I would suggest adding in more expansive game making stuff besides RM2k3 (even though I still use it quite a bit).

What makes me a good Demoman?! If I were a BAD Demoman, I wouldn't be playing TF2 all the time now would I?!

Charas cannot live again, until it updates it's views on stuff.

As far as teh internets goes, we're still an rm2k resource website. With maniacs in their forums.

Also may I add that although the forum scheme is nostalgic and retro, it isn't very good, or appealing.

Also, Saikar needs to be officially be recognized as a manly man.

Furthermore, facebook, gamefaqs, youtube, livejournal, deviantart, ytmnd, rmvx.ne, knowyourmemet and other websites, but I don't want to disclose those cause people then stalk me.

I think just a software update might suffice. By that I mean, expand from rpgmaking, to general game making. Attract traffic from people using gamemaker, rpgmaker, and stencyl. The only problem is chars wouldn't really be "unique" anymore. The only way to do that is to update the generators so they're not so early 2000's. a generator that makes all varyings kinds of resources is really ambitious tho and not really useful for serious amateur game makers.

And yes, I agree with html about charas appearance. We like it, but its very unappealing to newcomers and makes charas hard to take seriously.

Also, phone doesn't allow editing posts, so as a double post this shall remain.
