So I've recently decided that I want to go after my Doctorate in music.
Y'know.
After several years of learning.
And loans.

I'm gonna' be poor, aren't I?

I guess I'll probably go into music education as an undergraduate and later get a Master's in music composition.  Apparently there's no bachelor's for composition, the douchers.  Anyway, that entails a lot of other BS because college-level music programs are about as exclusive and cut-throat as the Blue Angels' Contry Club.  So, that means a lot of practicing that I should have been doing over the last few years in the next few months.

Soon to be a super senior at UW Madison for Computer science with an emphasis on graphics and AI, and a certificate in Japanese. So it's pretty much like a game design degree; however, I can get a job programming anything I'd want :)

...The college I go to has a B.A in Music Theory and Composition.

It really depends on the program on how hard it is to get into.  The higher quality, the more difficult.  Plus, different instruments have different rates of acceptance.  Double reeds are not very competitive at most schools, whereas Trumpet/Flute/Voice are very competitive.

I only play guitar and a little piano, and have been learning how to sing over the last year.  The schools I've been looking at apparently don't have a B.A. for composition.  So... yeah.  We'll see how it goes.  I was planning on declaring guitar as my main instrument since that's what I've been playing the longest, but there aren't many places for guitar, classically.  The guitar wasn't really popular until after the 1930s, so not many composers ever incorporated one into their works.  If there's a jazz ensemble or something more contemporary, I might try for those as well.
