This is kind of a tough one, but as much fun as I had with FF1, I've gotta go with my nomination, after all it was the most improved NES sequel compared to the previous in the series.

Final Fantasy 1 all the way.   Dragon Warrior is a great game though.  I just can't choose it over my childhood favorite, sorry.  Hell, I remember smelling the instruction booklet to that game. I mean big whiffs! I can only think of a few other things that smell better than that booklet and they are biological.

Oddly enough, I used to sniff instruction manuals when I was younger too. >.>
Anyway, I've never played Dragon Quest 2, so I don't really think I should place a vote this round.
