As much as I LOVE Megaman, I never cared about MML, nor do I have a 3DS so this doesn't affect me.

Now if it were Megaman 11 or Megaman X9, I'd probably set fire to my whole neighborhood in a fit of rage.

Also, Megaman Universe was cancelled as well. As was Assassin's Creed.

I was expected Universe to get cancelled, and I don't care for Assassin's Creed.  But Megaman Legends 3 was among the top 5 reasons I purchase a 3DS in the first place.  Honestly, if not for the fact that they implied that we would have all those great games at launch when I reserved it (only the to discover they decided to push them back, some to even 2012), I would never have gotten this very expensive paper weight.  Zelda lasted me 4 days.  Next up, Cave Story.  OH WAIT!  That was pushed back to September IIRC.  I was also promised the Megaman Legends 3 Prototype Beta within a week of it's launch.  So they've taken Xenoblade and The Last Story from me, and now Capcom has taken Megaman.

If not for The Witcher, I would despise the gaming world.

Megaman was always the kind of game that seemed like a perfect match for me, yet, I couldn't ever really enjoy. No idea why.

I think I just lost an entire inch of respect for you. SM3 is mediocre at best, and it has aged HORRIBLY. Megaman is still EXTREMELY fun to play.
Megaman has had better graphics than SM3 since the first MM games. I don't care about graphics too much, but damn are SM3's graphics just... boring.
SM3's music is blander than vanilla ice cream, even the worst of MM's music is better than 90% of "real songs".
All Mario can do is jump and has no health bar. Megaman has a bunch of not only weapons, but tools as well, and he gets new ones every game unlike stuper Mario (see what I did there?) not to mention a health bar and E-tanks, W-tanks and M-tanks to refill his health bar AND all his weapon energy bars.
And don't even bring up popularity, SM3 may be at the top of the sales charts but so is Call of Doody.

Also it's not fair to compare the NES MM games to LoZ:LTTP because LoZ:LTTP is a SNES game. I haven't played LTTP so I can't compare it to MM, though. However, while it's DEFINITELY better than the SNES MM games in the main series, the SNES MMX series probably beats it.

You forgot one important thing: Opinion!

For some, Super Mario 3 is better while for others, it's Mega Man.

Personally, I loved Mega Man X, but was slightly disappointed by the upgrades of X2, X3 etc. Haven't played that much Mega Man games, though.
However, they're still pretty fun games. I'm not a huge fan of the series, where I'd go sad by one not coming out, though.

SM3 is mediocre at best, and it has aged HORRIBLY.

No way, man. It was the best platformer in the world when it came out, and with the addition of a save system like in All Stars, still very playable to this date. Very tight platforming, huge number of different levels, power ups you could save and use when you were in trouble. It's a fun game today.

You're allowed to not like it and like Megaman better, but I think you're going overboard here and not giving due credit. And MM's music can be pretty awful >_>

Dude, SMB3 is the pinnacle of NES platforming. I don't even care who disagrees, because they're wrong.
