Norway
« on: July 23, 2011, 03:50:25 AM »
Apparently, this friday, a bomb exploded in the Norwegian killing atleast 7 people and injuring dozens of others. Simultaneously, a man authorities say is related to the bombing went into a youth camp and gunned down 80 kids. This is just awful. I'd post a link but a quick google search will produce plenty of results.

I heard about this. The bombing happened in downtown Oslo. I remember visiting there once and it was a nice place. My prayers go out the the family and friends affected by this.

Yeah, the bomb became the least of their problem when a guy dressed up as a cop starts shooting kids at an island.

Didn't think something this brutal would happen so close.

Sounds like something from a horror story. Unbelievable and shocking what they must have been going through in their last minutes.

What's the minimum confirmed death toll as of now? 87?

That's harsh. Still no idea what possesses a person to do this kind of thing. I'd heard some things about Al-Qaeda, but nothing's written in stone yet.

I think that's because 60% of America can't pronounce "Norwegian"
nor-way-gee-an?
And of course, America is the most important planet on Earth.

Still though, that's fucked up.
Everything.
All of it.

Because people these days are ignorant dickheads who think a stupid-*** singer with no skills is more important than the lives a several dozen people, including many children.

...Or because international celebrities (musicians especially) are better for ratings than a single-nation tragedy? Let's keep the comments tasteful, please. Respect for the dead and all that.

You're entitled to your opinion about her skill, but the dead are dead. While I agree it's silly she would get more media coverage, it's not her fault or anyone watching the news' fault.

I recently read the death toll has rose above 90. =\ I guess it's too be expected, but still, hard to believe one man did all this. He must've had some other people helping him.

21 years.

That is the maximum sentence in Norway.

This is a typical Norwegian prison cell.

You can go on the worst killing spree in history, spend two decades in a cell that looks far better than any dorm room I've ever lived in, and get out in time to.........well, to do it again.

If you were going to commit a crime, I can't think of a better place to do it.

Hell, you could even commit murder and get little more than a slap on the wrist.

Hint-hint.

I bet any of the 95 people murdered wish they could spend another 21 years in that prison cell.

I agree to a degree, Lucas. Though, murder is pretty close to unforgivable.
