So, apparently London is burning.
Live story here.

I'm at a loss for words.

I live in England. This has spread to Birmingham too. It's a little scary, you know!

Man, looks like dem Brits've gon' god-amn crazy!

In all seriousness, its scary to know that this is happening in a first world country.  It goes to show that it can happen anywhere.  I'm feeling something similar might happen with... uh... the they-who-must-not-be-named on the internet and the US government.  I mean, they hacked into police servers and posted officer's financial and personal information everywhere.  Who knows what they'll do next?

Soccer riots, am I right?

Seriously though, what's the cause of this? The link seems to be a bit of a mess, and I can't make heads or tails of it. I can see that there are a few blazes and some looting, but I don't know why.

Some dude got shot by cops, and apparently people are really overreacting about it.
On the link, there was also a correspondent who said something about a "Demolition Party", but I have no idea what's up with that. Wikipedia doesn't mention anything like that.

That's the scary thing. These new-found riots are now in no way linked to the original cause. It's spread to towns like
Liverpool, Leeds, etc. I live in Hull, which is quite a chav-infested area. If this kicks off here, God knows what I'll do.

That's how it started but that is NOT the cause. Apparently the political and economic climate in the city has been very bleak for some time now. And there have also been a lot of incidents with the police that has lead to widespread distrust of the police and general authority. All it took was something to spark it off and a lot of people that have had reasons to resent authority are not holding back.

Grim scene. I've never understood the concept of rioting like this. "Hey guys, let's wreck our own **** and make our neighborhoods even worse than they are" ? Maybe if it was targetted at a police station or something, but just random department stores? That's not going to make people want to go into business there again.

I live in Stoke. We are the scum capital of England. I am ready to crack some scumbag skulls.

Honestly, this isn't even politically-motivated. It is now more about looting than rioting. It's an excuse for the subhumans in some of those areas to steal themselves some stuff. Police resentment aside, this is just thieves and thugs being thieves and thugs.

Also I looked at some clips on youtube, wtf is wrong with all these people making comments about this being the result of an attack on the white race and elimination of white culture? And telling blacks and muslims and non-whites to get out? Srsly? ****, if that's how the people around me thought of me I'd be mad too.

But it's not even about that. It started because a black drug dealer pulled a gun on police and was shot dead for it, and people began protesting (in Tottenham) because the police didn't release much information about it. Then, because a lot of the people protesting were scumbags, they started rioting, then vandalising things, then looting. Then similar scumbags in the other major cities like Manchester and Liverpool got wind of it and decided to start looting as well. Of course some looters have put their own agendas on it to justify their actions - I've seen people claiming they're "getting their taxes back" (when most don't pay taxes, and it'll all have to be paid back in higher council tax anyway, idiots), and a lot of the significant black and Asian contingent (unfortunately the majority are non-whites, in London and Birmingham at least) have said they feel justified because the government doesn't respect them. Ironically some of the biggest vigilante anti-looting groups have been the English Defence League (white nationalists) and the Indian Sikh and Turkish Muslim communities.

As I say, they may dress it up as racially- or politically-motivated, but it's just scum being scum. Any excuse to do some thieving.

If you know what I mean.

Dragonium hit the nail on the head. This isn't politically or racially affiliated. I've been to London, it's expensive, and people wanna steal ****.
