So, Easter is comming up

So I was a bit curious, do you people even do anything special for easter? Over here we get friday off and then we usually have some sort of easter dinner on saturday and then we have monday off as well. Most of the time we hide eggs with candy around our house /perimiters and let our kids find it followed by chocolate bunnies and crap
Later on  we have some traditional folklorish halloween like thing where neighbourhood kids dress up and knock on doors for candy. To summarize it, they are ugly old crones(witches actually) who need some candy to make their flight to wherever witches live. There's no trick or treat, but easter is about candy for kids.

The food usually consists of Herring(also the rancid surströmming sometimes), lamb, eggs, potatoes and a soft drink that's a lot like coke only that it's very swedish and doesn't taste the same.(The same as julmust really which is a christmas drink).

To summarize the tradition. People eat stuff and drink snaps, it gets loud and people get kinda wasted. Candies are being devoured and noone talks about jesus. We enjoy the extended weekend and leaves it at that.

So, how do you people celibrate easter? You got it totally integrated into the traditions of your own or do you keep the christian character?

Usually just have a ham-centric meal on Sunday and notice how many people went to church.

My little brother was born on an Easter Sunday.

Seriously though, working. I am going to do a little Skype session with the folks. Other family members are supposed to be there.

What the hell is a surströmming?

Headless fermented herring stuffed into a can with tons of liquid and salt(I guess), the smell could kill smaller birds and it's considered a delicacy. Name pretty much means "rancid/sour herring"

We also eat chicken, ate some lovely chicken today. Good ol' chickens wrapped in ham with mozzarella and spiced with pesto. There are no boundaries for what we eat during these holidays.
