Sacrosanct (Full Game 60-70% Completed)
« on: January 25, 2013, 03:55:58 AM »
Hello everyone!  As of an hour or so ago, I've decided to change Eternal Sonja's name to Sacrosanct!  Why?  Because the word "sacred" plays a big part in the story.  I just want everyone to also know that its story was thought up of 2010 through the beginning of 2012.  A lot of things influenced the story I thought of.  A small part of Final Fantasy IX influenced me, the book "The Lost World" by Michael Crichton enlightened me on ideas as well.  I guess you can also say Xenoblade Chronicles played a tiny role too.  So if the story sounds like something you've played or read, I didn't steal it, it's just coincidental.  Completely original ideas are hard to come up with these days anyways.

I've posted some of the game's music in the "Creative Arts" board section.  Here's the link to the topic: http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=28607.0

I will add additional information about the game later.  It will be mostly old news, but so what?

I've basically changed up the entire beginning meaning...

      Areas have become more detailed!
Events look a lot better instead of lazy sprite movements and such.
      Skill learning system has changed.
Minor story changes that flow better.
Dungeons or whatever you'd like to call them have more to them rather than just walking around.
Dialogue has been updated and improved.

I will post more later!!!

I kinda feel like characers are more important than a story anyway. People are always worried about the story but barely spend any time on character development. I guarantee you'll get your money's worth if you invest some R&D on your characters!.

Oh don't you worry, the characters play a huge role in the story.  I didn't mention them yet.  I might as well describe them again now.

Main Characters:  Protagonists (None are more important than the other for the most part)

Vash:  The leader of the group.  Very kind-hearted, but sometimes loses control of his emotions.  Being a courageous and strong person, he fits the leadership role well.  Looks after his best friend like he's his brother.

Kyro:  Vash's best friend and childhood friend.  Grew up in the same village as Vash, but due to an incident that happened in the past, he is very cautious and cowardly.  He highly relies on Vash for a lot of things.  Due to their bond though, Kyro will always follow Vash into the most dangerous situations.

Arte:  An intelligent and narcissistic person.  He's the person that can solve most problems.  He relies on his mind more so than anything else and looks down upon his friends sometimes.

Cheryl:  A sweet girl who brings the optimism to the group.  No matter what gets in her way, she'll always look on the bright side and help others get through their problems.  A very selfless person.

Main Antagonists:

Lance:  The leader of a group called Sonja.  Due to the events of his past, he wishes to change the world to fix its flaws.  He willingly corrupts his soul with demonic power in order to achieve power and his primary goals.  He is extremely intelligent and feels nothing for anyone.  He believes himself superior to everyone, therefore doesn't hesitate murder and destroy.  "When you have more power than everyone, you don't acknowledge them as people, rather as insects just getting in my path as I walk down it."  He manipulates people and does what he wants no matter how cruel it is.

Occult:  Found when he was just a child by Lance.  Lance saved him therefore he owes him his life.  Occult is nothing more than Lance's most reliable and trustworthy pawn.  Being abandoned as a child, Occult doesn't care much about anything.

Bruno:  The leader of a gang of thugs in Baggon before Lance took them over.  He has no choice but to follow the person who he feels is "winning".

Ruby:  Lance's childhood friend.  Her reasons for following him are unknown until later revealed.

Other Characters:

Momiji:  A mysterious girl who doesn't reveal who she is until later on.  She helps the heroes at some point.

Curt:  Part of a resistance group in Velt created to stop Lance.  He's good at convincing other people to help out.

Jenna:  A strong girl who is also part of Velt's resistant group.  She protects Curt because he looked after her when she was a little girl.

Voide:  The general of the Baggon army.  He is the first to witness the horrific power Lance possesses.  He is committed to his duty to protect Baggon, but fails to do so. (As seen in the very beginning)

The game starts off 18 years before the present.  You witness 4 children being sent away from their home under the orders of the land's emperor.  It then jumps ahead to only a few months before the present.  You play as Voide returning to Baggon from his vacation.  He fights off all of Sonja's soldiers and makes his way to Lance, but is greatly outclassed by him.  It then cuts to Vash and the story takes place with him having to ron de vu with a member from Sonja on top of Mount Muun.

When something or someone is important to you, will do whatever it takes to protect them?  Perfection.  An impossibility.  Nothing but a dream that will never come true.  But that doesn't stop people from wanting it.  Rather than accepting the world you live in, you'll do whatever it takes to change it and make it better.  To destroy everything in order to create something new.  But will the new creation really be better?  One man plans to destroy everything in order to fix its flaws and for his own greedy and selfish ambitions, but the people that accept their world and its flaws will not stand by and watch it get taken away from them!

Of course the story is much much much more than that, but damn, it's hard to talk about it... lol

Looks like you've put a lot of effort into this!

I hate to say it, but considering the effort taken in map making etc, the rtp may well be letting you down...

Yeah some look a lil meh, but I'm actually working on making it a little better haha.  As long as they aren't horrible, I won't mind so much.  Feel free to tell me which maps though and I'll see what I can do.  For towns, I added the big trees and took out the RTP's little trees cuz they made me mad :P

Lol i know!  I was like... if I put in battles it will be too long, so I'll do a second trailer later.  Oh and drenin, those quotes were from each of the five main characters.  Can anyone guess which ones from the brief descriptions down below?

Plus I was working heavily on an older area in my game to make it a lot better.  I kinda of made it have 4 trials.  You saw one of them in the video "Patience" with the lightning strike that lights up the floor.  The other ones are Strength, Magic and Observation/Intelligence.  And then for a twist, I made a fifth one that represents "unexpected and adjustment" in which you have to quickly prepare from a sudden attack.

I guess next video I'll do something with battles, equipment, items and skills.  And I guess show strategic fights as well.

Those four have the biggest impact as protagonists.  The others aren't AS important, but still play a big role.  I mostly consider the chars you use most often and such as the main ones.

Piggy backing on the idea that moosetroop said about RTP letting you down, I'm sure that you could just edit the RTP chips to make them different. What I mean to say, is that the RTOP have... what, 5 chips? Thus, just changing those chips up a bit (color/shade/style changes) would really give your game a different look.

Of course, if you are not good at graphics editing, you may need someone to do this for you... but if you are as far as you are that might not be too difficult.

I really suggest this because I feel strongly that having a unique look to your game is very very important.

Yeah the ceilings are gonna change.  The forests use a different chipset and you saw that I added those big trees for towns and flowers.  I've added curve chips to caves so the water rivers in them aren't so blocky etc
