PLEASE NOTE
Provide a screen name to either me, Archem, or Dragonblaze so one of us can add you to the server's Whitelist.

Welcome to the World of Super Massive!
NOW WITH MCPC+ 1.6.4

Server IP
198.24.181.242:31963

SCREENSHOTS
Custom NPCs

Twilight Forest Dimension

Archimedes Airships and Watercraft

A lot more complicated designs can obviously be done, this was a quick example.
FORGE MODS now on the server include:
 • Twilight Forest
 • Archimedes Airships
 • Custom NPCs

What does this mean?
Anyone who wants to log onto the server now must download and install both Forge Modloader 1.6.4 as well as the four core mods now on the server. That's the downside to having a Forge modded server, there is some modding required on your part in order to join the server. However, don't be discouraged too quickly, since the minecraft 1.6 update, installing Forge has become incredibly easy and it's well worth it!

Simply follow this link, download the Forge Installer, and run it using whatever version of Java you have. An installation window will pop up, simply follow the instructions.

Download Forge 1.6.4 Installer

Now, after installing Forge, it will create a new profile which you must select in the launcher to enable Forge. If you wish to play vanilla, simply select your original profile. That's the good thing about the new launcher, you can keep your vanilla profile while also having a modded profile. When you launch this new Forge profile it will create a new folder called "mods" in your .minecraft directory which can be found at...

AppData/Roaming/.minecraft

You can also simply create your own mods folder so long as its titled exactly as "mods", no capital letters. After this is done, you must install the four core mods running on the server or else you will get an error when trying to log into the server. If you wish to download and install the mods on your own, you may do so and I have provided links to them above. However, I've uploaded a convenient mod package to my mediafire account that you can download below.

Link Removed since 1.6.2, Google is your friend.

This archive file contains all four mods you need to log into the server.

How to Install Forge Mods
To install ANY Forge mod is pretty easy. Simply place the .jar or .zip file into the mods folder. That's IT. Some mods have varying instructions which you should read if it's noted. This extra step is almost always simply instructing you to unpack the mod in whatever way the creator has compiled the archive.

If you download the above mod pack, simply place it into your .minecraft directory and unpack using 7zip/winzip/winrar or whatever unzipping program you have. When or if you are prompted, merge the mods folder with any existing mod folder.

That's it!

I'll also include the mod pack I use. Included are all four mods you will need to log on to the server as well as some client side mods I use to enhance gameplay. Some forge mods affect only the client side aspect of gameplay, such as Rei's Minimaps, and thus can be used server side even if the server does not have Forge installed. The mods included are:
-Rei's Minimap
-Matmos, atmospheric mod adding atmospheric sounds, such as wind on high mountains and chirps in forests at night.
-Damage Indicators, providing a HUD for mob health and pop-up damage
-Optifine, vastly improves Minecraft performance and provides many more graphics options, highly recommended for anyone with slow computers
-JourneyMap, creates a map of where you've been that can be accessed in a browser, also allows you to save the map as a screenshot

Again, Link removed since 1.6.2

I also highly recommend people install CraftGuide. It will work on any server and is incredibly useful. It allows you to look up any crafting or smelting recipe, including new recipes from mods, while you're playing.

If you have any questions or need help, let me know!

This is good. I've been too lazy to keep up my Hamachi server (it was a temporary solution anyway), so this works well.

Too bad. All the stuff I'd done took forever to do, and it'll take forever to re-do. But whatever, this is a better solution in the end. Thanks for doing this, Dren.

EDIT: Funniest thing - After playing around in the server for about five minutes, it crashed. Imagine that.

Aw, no generated structures...

I may give it a check, though. I'm playing other games at the moment, but I'll probably hop back on my laptop at some point.

I re-up it when I feel like playing, but I never got around to making it a launch on startup thing, and I don't think I will until the server client becomes more stable. I guess what I'm saying is it's never too late as long as you ask me to start it up.

Oh, and in the event that you didn't see my edit, your server crashed shortly after I joined. Coincidence or curse?

I feel the same way, but
I guess that's the price we pay for a hand-made world.

After I put all that work into building a castle on Archem's server... I'll definitely check the server out soon. I usually get obsessed for several days, don't play for months, then repeat. It'll be nice to be able to go on a server that is up 24/7 as I run pretty late schedules. Do you have a better idea when this will be all set up?

Zesher - add me.

Honestly, I do wish I had the ability to get a 24/7 server up and running, but I'm too much of a cheapskate. I find the world I had to be a great little world, and between the great starting area and the tremendous amount of work I've poured into it (seriously, it's ridiculous), I have a lot of sentimentality towards it, and would love to keep it as a constantly-available world.

That last part is why I'm so excited to see Dren taking the initiative. I can always remake my stuff, even if it'll take a few months of non-stop work. Being able to say I did it all not once but twice will be quite the feat.

Well... How about... if everyone has a ton of pre-made stuff on your server archem, I could just host it on my server instead. I mean, I'd rather everyone be happy and put the server to use then force this world on people.

Archem, why don't you zip up your world and send it to me. Also, the server crashed because it's been off.

Personally I'd like to start from scratch. Every time I start building something (minecraft and other things), it gets WAY better with every attempt. My area was pretty neat on Archem's server, but if I started over I could make a much cooler place.

(Plus the world was already pretty well developed when I started :p)

Well, for now, I've got the map up and running. There won't be any whitelisting for now, I may change that in the future if necessary.

Poop, I tried to post yesterday but it didn't appear for some reason.

Anyhow, please whitelist me! I'll try to be more active than I was on Archem's server. I didn't really enjoy joining a world as much where was already established and stuff.

...having said that, I won't be able to go on it for a couple of days because internet where I am is incredibly dodgy.

Day One: Zen Garden at the Bottom of the Lake

I've made a semi-permanent living space underwater. As deep down as it is, I have an excellent place to mine for resources, but resurfacing for more essential elements is not ideal. At some point, I will have to make a more permanent solution for this, but in the meantime, I'm quite at home in my subaqua suburban.

I have merely mined and built a few buildings at spawn so it's not so sad and lonely looking.
