[DragonBlaze]

Well my game SilverFire (SF for short) is a lot like a Breath of Fire game, and I probably could have made it i bof game if i simply changed the main character names and a few town names. Anyway heres the info on it

Background:  5 years ago a group of mages known as DARK Moon went off in search of sources of energy. The first two years of their search were unsuccessful, however on the third year they came across a cave of crystals that were giving off an energy unlike anything they had ever seen. Even common crystals have the ability to absorb magical energies, but in order for this to work they need to either very close to the energy source, or the energy source has to be very strong. Near the entrance of the cave the crystals gave off very little energy, and the crystals deeper in the cave gave off more. In what seemed to be the deepest cavern within the cave, there was a glowing crystal lager than either of the two mages have ever seen (only two of the DARK Moon mages were investigating the cave).

These two mages were low class, and a discovery like this could mean a promotion for them, so they got exited. However when they got closer to the large crystal it suddenly got dim, and all the energy faded away. The crystal now had 2 features that the mages could not see earlier. One was that there was a dragon whelp enclosed within it. There were puzzled by this for it has never been seen before. The other feature that was visible was cracks around the crystal.

Afraid that they would loose there almost certain promotions, one of the mages casts a lightning spell on the crystal to “charge it back up”.  It worked, but the energy it gave off now was not nearly as much as what it had given off before, and some of the cracks got just a little larger.

Anyway the mages take the crystal back to the DARK Moon HQ, and for 3 years they study it. The crystal needs to be “zapped” quite often in order for it to keep its energy, but every time its “zapped” the cracks just get a little larger, until one day…


Story: Two of the DARK Moon mages (same as the ones who found the crystal) come in to give the crystal its shock. However, when they cast the lightning spell, the crystal suddenly shatters, leaving the dragon whelp free (believe it or not this is your character J) . The whelp doesn’t have any memory for 2 reasons. 1, he is only a whelp and didn’t really have any memories, 2, the continuous shocks kinda erased all memory he did have.

You fight the two mages, and are able to beat them cuz you caught them by surprise. Even though you're in the DARK Moon HQ, you escape rather easily. You might not know it, but someone secretly helped you (crap that might have been a spoiler)

The first part of the game is about you and your party escaping from DARK Moon which is basically the government. Even though you know a spell to make you look human, mages or anyone who is used to magic will be able to tell your true identity. During this phase you also start to wonder what DARK Moon wanted with you, why you were special from the other dragons. You must find the answers before its too late...

Other info on the story: There are 3 phases, the first phase is when your a whelp, like i said earlier in this phase you run away from dark moon, and start to wonder about who you are. The next phase you grow up a little more and become a mature dragon, you and your party are strong enough to fight of DARK Moon mages, and during this phase you learn who you are, but the answer is not what you hoped for.

In this world dragons are not thought of too highly, there are a lot of dragon slayers to watch out for besides DARK Moon. Some dragons have even formed together and started forming groups that could soon be armies. The stress is building, it will only be time before it snaps...

There are also a bunch of other things you get caught up in, but I'm not going to mention them at the moment.


Systems:

Create a dragon system: With this system you get to build your main character. You get to select what body style he has, what his color is, what type of spells he uses, and even his name.

CBS: yup it has a cbs. You will be able to have 6 characters fighting in a battle with it. Although only 3 will actually fight at a time, you can switch back and forth between these 6 people. There will also be combo attacks. For example, if one character does a fire spell, then the next dose another fire spell, the second persons spell will be 10% more powerfull than normal. Combo attacks also allow new skills to be done.

World map: it has a world map simular to chrono trigger. When you come to a spot that you can enter, the places name comes down from the top of the screen (if its an unkown area it will have the untill it becomes known). Another box comes in from the left side saying [spc bar] - enter. Oh yeah, you also have a world map desplay

Message system, I hate it how the message box takes up the whole bottom of the screen, so I made my own.

Dragon system: Like I mentioned earlier you have a spell that can make your appearance change between a human and a dragon. You can switch forms in a lot of places, but there are a few times when you cant switch forms. Basically its when your in a town, or have a member in your party who dosen't know who you are. When your in human form you can't use breath attacks, because then it kinda defeats the purpose of being under cover. A few twists to this spell are mages and other dragons can see right through it, and you can't keep it on all the time cuz it takes a lot out of you. There isn't going to be a meater or anything where when the meter runs out you switch back to dragon form, but it ties in with parts of the story.

My CBS is about 50% complete, but i didn't make all the graphics yet (the battle chars are about twice as big as the defults) anyway i don't have any pics of it at the moment.

Edit: Oh yeah, I left out the characters because I felt that i was running a little out of room. Anyway I'll add the profiles and a description of what happens on the first hour of gameplay upon if anyone requests it.

Oh I forgot one of the coolest systems!

You know how your characters always were the same outfits? Its understandable if for like a week or two there out of a quest and don't have anything to change into, but then there are those games were there is a 10 year gap or something, and all the characters are wearing the same outfits (I wonder how much they smell...). Anyway in this game you won't have that problem. Each character will start out with 2 outfits, then if there in the front of the group, you can push "1" (or whatever button I choose to use) and they change there outfit. You can obtain new outfits by completing certain mini quests, by buying them, by finding them, and some people will just give em to you.

I didn't mention this earlier either, but I'm using a few movie clips that I made with ms paint, paint shop pro, and windows movie maker (its not too bad considering what I had to work with)

I don't think there is a tutorial much like the create a dragon system. Basically all the system dose is set 3 variables, then it changes your class to whatever form of a dragon you pick. Then it takes the variables from the two elements you pick (primary and secondary) to determain the skills you learn. The event that determains what skills you learn is just a common event with a few forks. Later in the game your sprite changes depending on a few variables made by the create a dragon system.

Anyway I'll write a tutorial if you want, but it will basically just be a CMS tutorial.

I don't know what system your talking about, but everything I made and am going to make is going to be made just by myself.

Anyway if anyone has any negitive feedback or comments please post it. Right now I bearly started so I could make some changes to parts if they aren't so good, but in order for me to find these parts I would need the negitive feedback on them.

Name: Keckshio
Race: Dragon
Age: N/A
Keckshio is your main character, when he awakes he dose not know anything of who he is or even what he is. Being forced into hiding, and having no one else of his kind with him, he often gets lonly, and sometimes even depressed. For the most part he tries to do the right thing, but its not allways easy to tell right from wrong. Early on he is easily manipulated due to his age.


Name: Yara
Race: Human
Age: 15
Yara is very young, and most think she should not be fighting. However when her father goes missing she is forced to look for help, and before long meets Keckshio. She is allways cheerfull and she tries to pass it on to others as well. She also tends to over react in a lot of situations. Her encouragment keeps the party moving forward.


Name: Jarek
Race: Human
Age: 30
Jarek is a dragonslayer. He has no home, no money, and is going nowhere in his life. he meets Keckshio (in human form) and Yara while trying to slay a dragon. The only thing keeping Jarek from killing Keckshio is his dept to him, and his quest to find his true purpose in life. For the most part he is one who is overconfident, and tends to bite off a little more than he can chew.

Race: Shapeshifter
Age: 22
is part of a tribe that lives in the woods. Members of this tribe are able to shapeshift into warewolves, and with some skill other creatures. Fearing this power a king has killed every member of the tribe exept , or so he thinks. Having no reason to live thinks about taking his own life, that is untill he meets up with Jarek in an etempt to save Yara in phase two of the game. dosen't say much, but is always sad and gloomy.

is a low class DARK Moon mage. He was born into a life he did not want, and has always questioned DARK Moons actions. He was one of the two original mages that discovered the crystal, even though he sometimes wishes he wasn't. From the begining he secretly helps Keckshio escape from the DARK Moon mages.

Age: aparantly 25
is always mysterious, and at times seems to know more about Keckshio than Keckshio knows about himself, and she always tends to keep an eye on him. Her mood is always changing, and is even chaotic at some times. At times she dose not even act human, but all spells that are able to change appearance give off an arau that is easily detected.



Anyway I need a name for the 3 people with the , if not I can probably come up with names. It will probably be a third of the way through the game before you learn the names of any of these three people anyway.

DARK moon mage- Koitsuki (Japanese for dark moon)

The Last one: Zyouki (I just made it up)

I always like to name my characters after something obvious in Japanese, but cool in America, like most manga/animes do.
