Saving Charsets
« on: August 11, 2004, 09:20:47 PM »
Ok, i tried renaming and resizing but i still cant get my charasets
to show up on rmk2003. Now i've seen this "Alex" guy say its a Internet Explorer bug,
but honestly i think thats bullshit beause this is the only site that i have been to that does that. i think its the people who made the site who did this. it'll be eaiser if they fix it instead of just bullshittin. But if anybody has any other ideas please let me know

All right, ya caught us. The "bug" is really just a way to prevent people from saving charactersets at all. We are trying to frusterate the entire community into having their heads explode.

Please do not inform the police.

You already answered the question yourself - it's an IE bug. Try using a different browser.

I GAVE YOU A SOLUTION. USE A DIFFERENT BROWSER.

Or are you just too stupid to read through a one-line post?

The charset is actually a PHP file, not a PNG. Sometimes, IE will save it as a PHP file, even if you rename it PNG.

What I suggest - Download  Mozilla Firefox and trying it again.

EDIT: Please don't double post. Use the Edit button.

Saving as a bitmap and putting ".bmp" at the end of the filename works too.

What FFL said. Save the images as a .bmp and make sure you put .bmp at the end of the file type. Then convert it (using paint or a more powerful program) to .png and upload it in your game.

As for the comment, well, I fail to have respect for anyone that comes onto the forums critizing and swearing. And now you presume to tell us how to act on our own forums. "Stop spamming" indeed. I would suggest poking yourself with a pin, letting your ego deflate a little, and then getting on with your life.

On the upside you DID catch that I am a guy so I cannot be too mad at you.

i've already tried that and it didnt work, read the post at the top

and i have no ego, im expressing how i feel, and the cussing, grow up..people cuss, its life, if you cant take it then lock yourself in a room. and critize? i critize because i think its kind of dumb calling this thing a "bug" when its most likely something with site you guys missed, look into it before saying its IE. This is the only site out of the millions i've been to that does this. And ego? pfft..come on, i've read some other posts here i see some of your forum buddies acting like they're the "coolest tough guy" calling everybody newbs, newbs at what? if there newbs that means they dont spend all there time on this site looking at sprites, why? because they better things in there life to do. What makes you think people are gonna respect you all when #1 you got some arrogant assholes for staff members, and #2 People get mad when they point out a problem that need to be fixed, ask for help or get the same non-working solution, and just get ignored.
So if someone is pissed because of some problem he/she has a starts flaming theres probaly a good reason for it.

Everybody and everything gets critize at some point in time, you take it like a child, get mad and label people "newbs" and throw a fit cause sombody said something you didnt like or you can discuss it like you have an education and i havent seen alot of that here.

I do not know if it is a bug in internet explorer or a bug in the coding of the generator. I did not program either. It is probably some combination of the two. That said, the solution I posted works. This is the first time I have heard of anyone having a problem with that solution so the problem must be on your end somewhere. All I can tell you is to try it again and make sure you switch the file format you want to save as.

That is all the help I can give you.
