I love it.  Don't put dieselpunk in your petrolpunk car though, it can damage it.

Is that a public (more or less) bathroom "chick in the mirror" picture?

And I'm with Archem on this. What is this for? A game? Which one? When? Why? How? Who? Are these actual ping-pong balls?

Tainted Love.

I guess. Since it's a chick in the mirror. But it's me in a motion capture suit. Hard to see but the whole thing is made out of velcro which I thought looked pretty silly (in a good way). Funnily enough, I kept sticking to other actors, or other things because of this.

This is at a place called SIRT which was running a workshop to train 8 actors in performance capture, as well as to do research for their own facility; I was lucky enough to go.

Some cool things I learned:
The suit itself has no "balls" on it. There are small velcro crosses with pieces of reflective tape on them that form a small nub. This gets placed over several places on your body. Apparently the tape is made of the same material stop signs and construction gear are made of.

After you are covered in these things, you get onto what's called a "volume" which is a space that several infared cameras can detect. You do what they call a ROM (which you can see at the end of the video). Basically you have to show the computer where you can and can't move by exercising different joints to the extent that they can go. It helps the computer recognize impossible movements. While you perform the scene, you move around a set that looks kind of like an architecture diagram, made of tape placed on the floor. Along with the infared cameras, there is a regular camera held by an operator. It's used for reference.

It was pretty cool doing scenes this way (unfortunately I didn't get to film the scene I performed) but at first it was a bit tough. One of the guys in the scene I was in spent half of the time sitting on top of what was apparently a house plant, while in another a guy tried to open a fireplace like a window. It was cool to see how when performing for motion capture, everything you do has to have intent, energy, and really has to be strong to be read by the audience. It's not necessarily "bigger" it's just more energetic and concise. It was also weird seeing my performance played back, because they gave me the sprite of a black woman in her 40s. It was like I could recognize my movements and my performance, but was seeing a different person doing it.

That's pretty cool.

And yeah, I did assume the mirror picture was you in that outfit, considering the video was, well, you in that outfit. I think. A little hard to identify clearly.

My previous job was in the same building as a Ubisoft MoCap studio. We'd sometime see people going out in their MoCap suit. They looked ridiculous (in a good way). I was always intrigued.

I don't know why but for some reason I can't stop giggling over that mental picture. XD

And after watching the video I have to say you're very limber and agile.

Looks like salami, pepperoni, and half of a mozzarella cheese stick.

I likely wouldn't eat it.
