Chrono Trigger re-sprite project

I'm working on some battle sprites of the characters from Chrono Trigger, and figured I'd ask for some help here. I know I sound like an idiot, but before you go thinking I'm some Newbie who didn't read the rules, look at this.  (I didn't know where else to put this topic, so sue me.)
 
here is what I've done so far.

I know it's not much, but it's a work in progress. I'm just tring to get the basic look down before I go into detailing and stuff. I would attempt the other characters, but I'm not very good at humans. anyone willing to lend a hand? and no i don't want some hideous thing you made with the Battle Charset maker, I want something that's majorly a custom. This is more like a test to see if there are any real spriters here, but it will help the community.

Like I said, I want to get all the characters done and the like, but I suck at Making human sprites. Just not my forte.
