The crazy spam days.
« on: January 01, 2005, 07:46:23 AM »
I was just remembering when Reain_ and me were here all the time as mods for this forum...do y'all remember all the frickin' spam?  There was at least 5 locked topics on each page (most by me :P).

I was just thinking about the huge Trevlac v.s. charas war that seemed to spring up and die down from nowhere.  Just wondering if anyone still dislikes me or has a lack of respect for me from those days.  I'm not trying to drudge anything up but I was just thinking a bit.  If I ever left charas I wouldn't want to be remembered as the iron-fisted mod who everyone hated.

Actually I think the tension maybe died down after I was un-modded because most people didn't want me to be a mod at all.  Like Sonichaos...he's already told us why though.   It was because I was pretty new to cahras (less than a year of attendance) and I sat on top of that one post Saikar made for a people's election.

Though I must say...when I logged on to charas one day to check that topic I almost crapped my pants when I saw my name in orange.  I was actually really afraid because charas isn't like other forums that I've moded/admined and I was scared people would be like "Hey look at the stupid n00bcake mod."  But I can't tell y'all how much adrenaline was going through me because a doctor would probably have said I was dead...BUT, I remember Alex's "test".

The test was...alot of things but mostly scary.  It had a trick solution: Alex told me NOT to lock it but to tell everyone not to post anymore and not to tell y'all that I was given orders not to lock it.  In other words I wasa told to control it.  He knew it was an impossible request.  I was actually supposed to lock it and that I did after about 3 hours of more flames and spam in that mother-of-spams thread.  I thought I'd be fired for sure disobeying a direct order from the webmaster but he only congradulated me on passing a test and seemed more releived than anything that I had done what he told me not to do.  But I soon realized from that lesson that not even the webmaster is always supposed to know what to do in any situation.  Then I made a mistake....there was a topic that I deleted!!!  I can't recall if it was the same one or not but someone mentioned (a mod mentioned) the possiblility of the topic in question being delete-worthy so me being eager for any hints to do my job jumped on the trigger, turned the barrels around into my own face, and went BAM!

Wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this since all we ever discussed were the weird and bad things that went on.  Like I said I just don't want to be remembered as the mod that executed threads.

what do you mean "Alex's test"?

that whole thing was my idea. the  only thing alex did was aprove and not step in, it was my idea to start a fake flame war, ask around, i was the main target for the flames... Xp

btw, no grudge from me..

Your through your newbie days, Osmose?
And Trevlac, You were scared wehn you had to lock threads, and I had to tell you what to lock, and when people got mad you said it was all my fault. You and Reain hardly ever showed up also. But no, no grudge from me either, I pass over things quickly. And I can see you as a friend if thats what you want.

Yes I do :)

And yes, thanks to Saikar many people here are different.  It was his advice mostly that helped me to not be such an *** with the topic locking.

lmao YOu have no idea the irony of what you had just said.  Well I think you're right when you say you were kinda newish on here and people didn't like that. That also coulda made making descions alot harder. I've had no trouble at all dealing with topics, but that's cuase I'm super. They kinda just gave you the job and said "S'ALL YOURS!"  Which was kinda wrong. And somehow Gary minipulated you to help him deface darkfox, which didn't help your image lol, annnnddd blah. I think it'll take some time if you want to be a mod. Alota people don't understand the consistency of it, or the limits. Like me being the All of All mod doesn't mean I can edit someones post in the gallery lol. sorry for my rant, my whole point : you tried, it didn't work out, it's okay, you're still the same trevlac to me.

I hold no grudge. I haven't been around for nearly three months to really hold one. No hard feelings.

yes some people did, but thanks.  and I guess you're right Carmen but you can't really blame Gary as alot of people wanted to manipulate me since I was new and easily influenced.
