Problem playing games
« on: February 03, 2005, 05:39:02 PM »
Whenever I load a game from its RT.exe file, it starts in fullscreen, but it is very off-center. It's like its being pushed off the righthand side of the screen, and coming back through on the left. It's also slightly distorted. This happens with my test games, and others I download. I can play any of them in windowed mode perfectly by opening RMK up and choosing to test game, but I'd really like to play in fullscreen if possible. Anyone have a solution?

First off, make sure the button is on, and about the off center thing, you can position windows on your computer, can't you?

You didnt read what I wrote did you?

I can play them perfectly in windowed mode.

When in fullscreen, the image distorts/discolors and is very off-center. Adjusting monitor properties doesnt fix it.

Of course I read, it just wasn't very discriptive. What version are you using?

Using  2k3.

Just updated my monitors drivers-didnt help.

Tried taking a screenshot to show you, but when I pasted it to paint it was perfect. No problems at all.

EDIT: just tried opening same games in rmk2000, but no luck there either.

Maybe your DirectX version is too outdated? I used to have that problem until I upgraded my DirectX...

Change your resolution to 600x400 or whatever it is, and see if it scrools then. If so, it's a monitor situation at that resolution.

Bhall, please don't post in topics that are more than a week old.

I had that problem a while back, and I fixed it by resizing the screen while in fullscreen mode. Try that, maybe.

I had a problem very simular to that when I got my new gfx card. There was nothing wrong with the monitor or rpg maker, it was in my display settings.

What I had to do was go to display proporties - settings - advanced - displays - monitor - and then I had to syncronize the horizontal and vertical, and I had to check the composite option. Though I doubt you'll have the same set up as mine, look for syncronization options and play with them a little, that should help. Your resolution shouldn't matter, just maybe don't use 800x600, that one can be goofy sometimes.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN
