RPG Maker Movies

Did anyone know that you can use RPG Maker to create movies? If anyone didn't know then I'm letting you know now. You can make then even full (2h) movie legnth if you want and have enough material to stick in them. Also, if they are very large, they can be burned to a CD-R/CD-RW for transfers. Another good feature is that the extracted data files can be burned on CD so that you can run the program right of the CD-ROM.
The MP3 patch for RM2K3 can come very handy for making RM movies as well.
The only drawbacks is being unable to cancel the message boxes automatically (after a set time-period), and that if you wish to set up a puase/stop setting, you'll have to code a system in using switches, variables, and maybe even events. Switches and variables are not my specialty so I am unable to create this pause/stop setting other than with Alt + F4. (I can't say anything for RMXP because I'm not familiar with that version yet.)
Otherwise, RPG moviemaking is time-staking, but promising and funfilled. Who knows... making your own little 16-bit graphi movies may be the 1st step to making you the next Stephen Speilberg.

You know, for someone new to Charas, you have some good ideas.
And you actually can cancel message boxes automatically. If you check out the RM2K/3 help file on the "Message" page it tells you how. Something to do with putting \| after your message.
EDIT: No, wait, \| is Pause, isn't it?

RM movies? They aren't that good. They are just mainly auto-running events. Nothing special. Plus the quality would be not as satisfactory. Not a good cinematic feel.

I reckon we could try. How about short movie competitions? Like the short story comps, but more visual.
A few minutes long would be fine.

Well I wouldn't go that far... but it isn't a good idea. It's not really a movie.
