Melethica
« on: December 10, 2005, 04:18:29 AM »
Well, you may have notice that this is the game I had been working on before, but it's different now.  I was in the game making process when I decided to tweak almost everything(storywise) about the game. I deleted my last thread for the game, because I felt it was unnessesary. So here it is, the new and improved Melethica.

  Melethica

 Story :

In the last year of the sun, a man appeared from the woods. He called himself Zatches. He seemed to speak into our eyes when he talked, as if he knew us better than we knew ourselves. He seemed to have a gift to read people. Zatches never really did belong in town. He eventually left. His journeies take him upon many different paths these days. I guess he shall be on a neverending quest for answers of himself. A neverending quest that shall be. Truly he is      the breath of Melethica.

 Characters :

-Zatches
 Age: 24
 Gender: Male
 Personality: Loner

 Features
-Quest System: Take different Jobs and missions to further Your game progress.
-Alternate Game Specifications: Depending on the path you choose,                                                             the game is different.
-More Features Coming Soon

Well in a nutshell, that's all I have right now(due to game changes) but more to come probably tommorow. All critiques are welcome. Also I may need help with things so I'm going to make a Help wanted section here. Make sure you check it often. Have a nice Day.

The Quest System
Ok, I'm going to explain what  I mean by a quest system. Have you ever  played Dark Aliance, or another D&D game? If you have than you'll understand what I mean. In the game, everything has a meaning, like there is nothing just for scenery. During the game, you talk to different people, some people will ask if you  want to hear there delima. If you do than they will tell you about something. Then you do different things to help them with there dilema. Those things can be search for an item, find someone, take them somwhere, kill somone, build something, etc.  Once you help the person, you will recieve exp. and money, and that's how you advance through the game.  There are no "RANDOM"  battles. I'm not saying that there aren't pointless battles, but there are only battles in logical places. And you can defeat all the enemies in an area.

Here's an example of  the system:

(you talk to a lady in a town)
Lady:HELP HELP!!
Zatches:What's the problem
Lady: I can't find my cat.
(you than can choose to help her)
Zatches: I'll find him for you.
Lady: Thank YOu
(later your in the woods on a quest to find a sword and you notice a cat on the ground by a bush, then you pick it up)
OBTAINED OLD LADIES CAT
(later at any time you want you talk to the lady)
Lady: My cat, oh thank you sir.
Zatches: No Problem
Lady: Here Take this, I know it's not much but it's all I have.
ZATCHES OBTAINED A LEATHER CLOAK AND 200 NAT COINS. ALSO YOU GAIN 600EXP
ZATCHES' LEVEL WENT UP AND HE ALSO GAINED A  NEW QUEST LEVEL.

It'll be something like that more well tought out. Any question you may have just ask them. I may change this system a little later so keep a look out.

Basiclly. See I kinda used the cliche where the here forgets his past. But it's different because he's skitso.

I like it, I think I read this before. The storyline makes you wonder if he's just a crazy skitso, or something more... This COULD turn out to be a wicked cool game, if you plan it out right. It reminds me of the Butterfly Effect for some reason, maybe 'cuz I'm expecting an ending liek that? idk, goodluck!

Does anyone know how to make a system where your have an item like "metal" and an item like "bronze" that you can fuse together. Something like FF9 Synth Shop. If you can help me with this, you will surley be in my credits.

Make pictures out of your text and move them from outside of the bottom of the screen to outside the top of the screen at a slow speed. The only other way I can think do the same thing would would be to make a battle animatino that includes scrolling text, but that'd probably be even harder.

Did you place images directly in the sprite folder/s?
