If you would try to make this forum active as much as you're begging to become a moderator to a forum that has an active member group of a dozen with the highlight of this week's posting being this thread, then maybe you'd be able to make a case. But until this forum is even a fragment of what is was from 2004-2008, then don't even bother.

Hmm so what you're saying is I should focus less on manipulation and more on my actual goal of seeing us restored to our prime? Hey I'm all for it, but how? I mean I've been browsing and we're sorta antiquated and not as hot as we were in the old days. Heck most of our "affiliate sites"? Long since gone. Our site isn't top notch, I mean I discovered a site who have a feature for "Multi-Quote Posting". I never ever know that existed!  O.o RMK.net? They're got a super efficient way to browse games using tags!! @-@ With a a feature to follow the game content, and they are even still makign RPG maker 2003 games that people are playing. Seriously that's sorta what lured me there. Truthfully? I don't think we're out of the game but I think we need to improve sometime in the future...but I worry another site update will mean the loss of allot of data or worse the site may implode and we'd all be our younger selves trapped in a sinister new Forum AI who slowly picks us off one by one till only Zoltar is left alive! 8O

But seriously we need to put together a team to research how to attract more new blood and keep 'em as well get our image out there. Heck even the indie game developers I talk to haven't heard of us unless they're former members. I'm always out there advertizing us to people on other sites though so I'm hardly just sitting on my duff ya know. <.<

Already posted two simple ways:

Update the forum appearance, because this **** is old as hell.
Make the forum a broader appeal, for example by making it a game development forum.

Expanding the forum as a general game development forum was a plan, and we were even working on revamping the generators to make them not just RPG Maker specific, but then... I don't know what happened, but everyone just stopped.

They stopped cause they have real lives or got bored. Same thing happened to my "Charas Ex Upgrade". People lost interest pretty easily on forums cause we all just like the idea of fixing up our site but we don't want to do the work. The few of us who do probably don't have the codding skills or the time either. =/ It's a tricky prospect. It makes you wonder how Forums stay up and running really. Hm I think we need to make a news years resolution: This New Year's Eve we'll, everyone, will give it at least a try to get the old girl up and running like she used to be. Not just for my possible premotion but for the spirit of Charas!! Heck forget about me, or you or even that funny guy lurking over there! This is a call out to all members, new and old to rise up and at least give it one good go at saving the site! Who's with me??

I used to be a mod way back in the day (now I feel old). Moderators are needed when you have a lot of members posting things that you need to, well, moderate. When you have a site like charas with a small active user base, there should only be a few mods, otherwise too many people have their hands in the cookie jar. Honestly being a mod is over rated, just enjoy the site and don't worry about constantly looking for spammers and flamers

He's right, you know. I forget that I have powers a lot of the time, and I'm only reminded when someone reports bots or spam or something, and then I need to come play janitor. I doubt anyone thinks of me as important staff, but that might be because I built up my social status by spamming and being a jackass. The only reason I'm a mod at all is because I'm so active, so I'm usually one of the first people on the scene when something needs to be sorted out. It's hardly glamorous, it's just unpaid work. Go be like me and make sure everyone knows who you are by just being the craziest guy here.

Actually I have great respect for Janitors. My brother is one and his school was voted one the cleanliest in the state.

Never said I don't have respect for janitors. I have respect for anyone who can deal with cleaning up garbage and junk of others for eight hours a day. Still, not glorious.
