Well, I can only see two ways you can improve that. The trees and rocks look really even and they're all the same. Things in nature are usually pretty random. And the path there looks too straight. Even man-made paths wear away and get twisted and worn over time.

I recommend a better chipset.

1)Maybe you could put some more trees on it and place them a bit closer each other cuz now it look more like a field then a forest.
2)You can use "Tint Screen" and make it darker so it looks a bit better.
3)Try to use another Chipset cuz the RTP isnīt the best one if you try to do a forest.( if you like the grafic use some Zelda chips or any other gba game Chip)

(Before i realized that there were sites that had resources and stuff i only had the RTP to go after, so i have some experience in making maps with it.)

Good Luck

Obviously this isn't my best work and was knocked up in a minute, but you can see how...
1. Even though the trees have order, they still seem 'forest like'.
2. Those boulders are BAD and make a map look terrible...
3. Also, don't make a pointless two square pool of water, stretch it out and make it a river edge. I suppose that's a healing pool?
4. If I were you I wouldn't put a path in at all, but if you must, PLEASE don't use the tile you're uing at the moment. Paths are not perfectly straight sided.
5. For a bit of diversity, try adding leafless and different types of trees.

the biggest problem im seeing is the fact that the trees are very limited, very plain even on the one you did moosetrap(although not as bad) what i would suggest to make things look better and make it easier for you is to have a forest panaroma. It just looks, intensely plain, but thas mainly because rtp graphics are limited to say the least, like moose trap did add so varied trees, maybe some animals, and aviod square roads like that, unless its REALLY close to a town which would make sense if its always under maintanence. Thats about it.
