A small map/scene
« on: May 19, 2006, 09:21:45 PM »
This is a small chapel made for the use of the royal family.

It's not overly-decorated in here, because it's supposed to show how behind the flash and regality the queen shows to the public, she prefers to keep a simple life with her son (so long as no one sees).

I dressed Nichi in red in this scene not only because it's Gracia's national colour, but also because it's supposed to show his opposition to Ishia who is always dressed in cool, muted colours. As well, much of the scene (except the carpet) is done in cool colours, with a blue tint to show the castle reflecting Ishia's more passive approach.

I hope you enjoy!

I love the lighting effects and the shadows, they made it so I couldn't see any errors! But I'm sure if Meiscool comes in, he'll rant on for an hour about anything you've done... less than perfect. On a side note: Could you post that chipset? It looks very useful.

It's only because I can talk with account of actual proof that I know what I'm speaking about, unlike you. Constructive critque overrules people going: "OMG SUPER G00D!!1one1! I like that part, OMG H0W'd j00 do dat!?"

Yes i agree, Archem Does overrule people a abit, and there was no need for that remark, besides everyone has there right to critisize positive or negative.

i think the lighted up window and lighting efect is unnecessary, the backround looks like its night time, is there sunlight at night?

Technically, yes. The moon actually reflects the sunlight at night. Moonlight. Huzzah!

I'm a bit confused; is that an extremley thin building, or an extremley thick wall with a window in it?

And I have the right to say Meiscool is generally dumb.  ;)

The lighting on this is pretty friggen awesome. The cutoff at the statue is a particularly nice detail. But what really gets me is PROPERLY SPELLED DIALOG! You have no idea how annoying it is for me to see most screenshots of games with the crappy spelling and abbreviations someone uses online.

I do have a few qualms though, mainly two things: 1. The design of the wall behind them and the stup of the room in general is a bit awkward - I wouldn't expect the wall to open up like that in a normal castle. And 2. The lighting looks more like sunlight than moonlight, which is paler and less powerful. But the effect taken by itself is really awesome, and I'm sure it shows in other scenes in your game.

I'm not sure what you mean about the window. You'll notice the wall is thin at the points with the window, but then there's a divider in the wall for the part with teh door in it, to show that it's thicker there and leads to a hallway. I guess it's sort of like a backward L shaped passage with this room being the bottom.

I know what you mean by the bright light.
There's a comment on the moon being very bright in the story on this particular night. It's part of a prophecy.

I understand there's quite a few comments on the wall, though, so I'll work on that.

It's not supposed to be an open wall, it just slopes down to show a background and keep it looking interesting. I thought it would be assumed there was the rest of the wall there, but I'm wrong ^^'

I never said anything against you, just that you often point out anything thst makes a map less than perfect. Way to blow things out of proportion, though. I don't give too much "constructive critique" because it's not my role, and you're bound to give it all sooner or later.

And I don't overrule things, do I? I always figured I gave credit where credit is due...

EDIT: Oh my God, did I actually say that above stuff?! My memory and mental aggression must be slipping and kicking in, respectively. Sorry if I used anything too excessive there...
