Programs for RM2K/3
« on: July 25, 2006, 05:07:20 AM »
So, just because I am a new member of this board doesn't mean I am a total newbie. Yes I agree, I've posted some minor things about tuts and such, but I have a basic (and slowly growing) knowledge of RM2K3.

So without further adieu...which I think I spelled wrong, but anyway.
I have compiled a list of tools and utilities (with brief descriptions) that anyone can benefit from.

GraphicsGale: A very nice animation editor, good for making BattleChars (if you have the talent for shading, shadowing, and whatnot). It takes alot of patience to use. It can also be used to alter charsets and line them up correctly.

Do I use it?: Yes, For Battlechars, and custom animations.

Idraw - Idraw has been around for quite some time. No one even knows who created it because everywhere I look, no one can find it's creator. Basically Idraw is a character editing program, but I've seen better things out there then Idraw, especially for editing.

Do I use it?: Nope, used to, a while back.

Ultimate Paint: Just downloaded this as a suggestion from a fellow member of this site. It helps fix any problems you're having importing your FaceSets from Charas.EX ONLINE. Hopefully someone will write a tutorial and such for it, I am not in the mood for tutorials.

Do I use it?: Yes.

RMXP Tool: Basically a name generator (Specifically for RMXP, but 2K/3 users can also benefit from it). You can randomly generate character, item, weapon, game title, and spells names. Good and comes in handy if you really want to customize your game.

Do I use it?: Yes, occasionally.

ResHacker: A resource hacker. Able to rip BMP (or pretty much any files) out of .EXE files. Also prime on editing the EXFont. Search for a tutorial on how to rip and customize your EXFont. EXFont are those little custom symbols you can have on your game menus and such ($A is for a sword, $B is for a shield. You get the idea.).

- Helpful Websites -

Charas. Of course.

Seventh Sanctum (Google it.)
SS is a gigantic site of endless naming generators for all types of names. Very good resource if you're looking for new item names, monsters, places, and the like. Also is keen on helping writing fanfics, giving ideas and so forth. If you're into fanfics.

RPG Palace
Good for Utils and resources. (Google "RPG Palace")

Hope this helps.

I removed one of the sites because it has a download link to RM2K/3. Please make sure that any site you post, even if you just say it, doesn't have a download to RPG Maker.

2. No links to RPG Maker 2000, 2003 and XP. Providing links to this program can get Charas in trouble. You can talk about it, but you cannot link to it. Not even via PM!

Thank you for your cooperation.

EDIT: Otherwise, this isn't a half-bad idea. Sort of like the Recommended Tutorials. If some more useful utilities are added here, I might consider stickying this.
