Questions about Charas and RP2k3
« on: December 06, 2006, 12:24:38 AM »
Ok i have lots of questions about stuff.

1. Do you have to make your own sprites for EVERYTHING?
2. What actual programming knowledge must you possess in order to make a RPG?
3. In the generator thing, how can you make a faceset, battleset, and charset of the same person, insted of starting from scratch in each one and trying to get it to look similar to the others?
4. Is it hard to make a game in RP2k3? Iv'e never heard of this until recently.
5. Is it user friendly?

Thanks a lot! :)

1 More or less yes, if you want your own characters then you have to make the sprites yourself, but there is a RTP set to the rpgm2k3 that includes some charsets, monsters ect.

2 Noone really, as long as you understand what is going on and is not looking for making something special, or like really complicated you donīt even have to go into Switches and Variables.

3 I guess there is no such thing as "the same person" thus you created them yourself a little while ago, simply just open a new window with the face generator while you have the old window in the back so you can se your character.

4 It all depends on what you are trying to do, a game is really easy to make with the maker, but a game with some special entries and systems will take time to code. And a good game will also take long time to make, but itīs not hard. Maybe in teh begining but once you are confortable with the program it will go smoothly.

5 Actually I doubt it could be more user friendly than it is now, you have bunch of event opperations and stuff that you can choose from. But if you want something that is not on the list you have to more or less code it yourself.

I hope this helped.

It's included, don't worry. And let's see how I answer does questions:

1. Do you have to make your own sprites for EVERYTHING?
No. You can use the RTP ones or find new ones, like in the complete resources section.
2. What actual programming knowledge must you possess in order to make a RPG?
If you know how to read, you're a step ahead. And if you're familiar with, let's say, visual basic, some things will be a bit simplier. Even though, once you get to learn it, it's simple, wether or not you have skills at any programming way.
3. In the generator thing, how can you make a faceset, battleset, and charset of the same person, insted of starting from scratch in each one and trying to get it to look similar to the others?
Sorry, you have to make the same one again and again, since they are different parts.
4. Is it hard to make a game in RP2k3? Iv'e never heard of this until recently.
It's a rough start, but if you can read some tutorials, it's easier than you think. Something simple is simple. Something complex is complex. The better, the harder. Just learn how to make them.
5. Is it user friendly?
The options explain more or less themselves. There are tons of different things that you can make easily, but for something less normal and more specific, coding is your only way out.

Also, there is a help file for rm2k3 that explains all of the functions in greater detail, if by chance your version doesn't have the helpfile a simple search should solve the problem.
