2 types of RPG

Ok, today I downloaded Xenogears OST, one of the best game EVER. But as I started rememberin the game, I acknolegded that it consists in a serious story, with a unstopping sequence of disaster and no "enjoy time" for the heroes, even though thereīs love involvement between Fei and that girl...
In contrary, therer are other games in which the plot will give us some time to breath an enjoy some jokes and stuff, well shown in FF7, for example...
I think I prefer this last one kind of RPG. Itīs very nice to be able to take a break from battles and sadness and danger to look for some silly itens (like when we have to turn into a woman with Cloud [not that I into that stuff, hahaha]) or play a minigame to advance....

What about you?

EDIT, BTW, I strongly recomend you guys to get Xenogearsī OST, it rules!

thats not really true, I've played 99.9% of the game lol I got up until the last boss. There are some light moments. Especially with Bart. but my light moments may be different then your light moments...people find different things funny like...I found the Pirate that always did "The man....of ..the ...sea!" thing rather funny. And dart got drunk with him and they both did it..that was pretty fun.

 And I found Big Joe funny. I still cant understand how someone who only give 1 hit was able to go to shevat. Or how Dan could use a Gear skill in the tournament.
 And when the children of the orphanage did all that stuff just to send Billy's gear. And when you try to enter in the orphanage bathroon and a child give you a comic book because they're out of paper.
 But I agree that game was more sad than others, but I like that way. If you dont want the game to be sad, then dont go to Citan's house in the beggining, if you do it, theres no sadnes at all! (but also the time got stuck)

By sad i didnīt mean sad (what?)...What I wanted to say was "focused on the plot", intense (not talking about lack of side quests too). In Xenogears you are everytime after something related to the quest. I like games where the characters enjoy some "time off", like when Cloud and the gang stop at the Gold Saucerīs haunted Hotel, or when Cloud takes a ride with Tifa/Aeris in that thingie....Gives a different feeling to the game.

A bit off topic, but ok...that point-and-click worldmap completely wipes out what iīm saying...like in Arc of the Lad: Twilight of Spirits. I got sick of the game cuz itīs so intense after the same old objective!

Plus, even if you got incredible graphics and good characters, that wonīt save the game. Take Star Ocean: Till the endo of time for an example. It is a game with no appeals other tahn graphics and a fun-battle style! The whole story sucks!

Well I never played Xenogears, but I agree that every game needs its 'light' spots. In most games they have a lot of them at the begining before the main plot developes. For example, when could dressed up as a woman, that was before he found out about sepheroth was around and such. Most games still have light spots after the main plot developes, just not as many.

I agree with dragonblaze. That's why I'm going to have a lot of recreational activities.

Games that feel safe with alot of spots to move at your own pace make you feel more in control and makes the experience more leisurely.

What is Xenogears OST? is it an RM2K3 game or like a Playstation game or something...what? I have a Playstation2 game called    Xenosaga but I never played Xenogears, so I wouldn't know if there is any relations...

No offense but I'm going to have to call you a complete and utter moron. Xenogears OST = Xenogears Original SoundTrack = all music in the game on a shiny (bunch of) CD(s).

Donīt mind Razor, heīs just being nice...I really recommend you playing Xenogears, itīs for PSX (or PS1, you call it). Itīs an amazing story with the hero that has the deepest pesonality complex ever (mebbe Cloud is more complex that Fei...). Itīs really, really good. I donīt thnk thereīll ever be gameslike FF7 and Xenogears again. I hope iīm wrong....
