Okay, the problem is I just created the introduction to my game and several maps; once the introduction is complete the character is supposed to be able to walk around freely  searching the area for his comrade who has gone missing.... The problem is the character cant move! None of the directional arrow keys work!

I checked the tileset settings and they are fine, but when I push "Escape" to go to the menu, I can't even use the arrow keys to guide through the menu! That, and spacebar doesnt work for selecting a menu (ex. Items, Equipment, etc.) or for moving through dialouge. There might be a simple solution but I have no clue!

Is it your keyboard? Or maybe something within the RPGmaker setting.  Maybe a common event?

No, my keyboard is just fine, I can use the directional keys and spacebar on the intro screen (ex. New game, Load game, Exit) but after the intro... nothing.... Also, I havn't set up any common events yet. It's very strange.

maybe it's your version of rm2k(/3).

It has to be a common event, unless this happens in other games without any events at all, have you tried that?

Yes I am very sure its not a common event... there are none yet, I just started!

My maker has been giving me some strange freezing up problems occasionally as well, I think Pyro might be right that it is my version of the maker.

In that case could anyone post or pm a link to a good working download of rpgmaker 2k3. (I seriously hope thats not taboo on this board...)

Curses once again.....

Well if it helps, I made a test map and started the party position there, the game still has the same problem after about 30 seconds of gameplay... the same amount of time until the spacebar bugs out in the introduction.... so i'm guessing both the spacebar and the arrow keys are being disabled at the same time... no clue why though.... No events were acting on the hero in the test map, and I went through the common events and as I thought, there were none......

I think you can find the file with a little search, but its illegal.. Anyways i think the good translation was called "Advocate" or something.. I havent seen anyone havin such trouble when using it... Pretty large file too send over E mail, but maybe someone will do it i dont know.

BTW: Very wierd bug, i would smash my computer if thats what heppened too me

Well, I managed to find a way around it. If anyone gets this problem, don't try playing your game from the Test Game Button inside the rpgmaker.... open it manually from the game folder's RPG_RT and all willl work smoothly....

Sounds pretty lame too do it every time you are gonna test it. But its great you got it working ! "Create game NOW!"

It might be caused by having an "Auto Start" event, also.

If you have one of those without something to switch it off somehow (like going to another page that doesn't have Auto Start as its starting thing), it can lock stuff up.
