I just got a new computer and I was wondering which version I should get? I know 2003 has side view fighting but Is that all that is different? Please help me for I would like to begin on my game asap.

EDIT: Can you explain the pros and cons of each program?

Rm2k3 also allows more pictures and key imput processes. Plus most games are being made with 2k3 now, so you'll need it to play them. I'd also get 2k so you can play 2k games as well.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

2k3 totally pwns 2k.  The front-view system of 2K can be replicated in 2K3, and 2K3 has more everything.

2003 got some glitches to it, more than 2000 but that doesn't matter unless you do some deep programming. 2000 is better if you're new to RPG maker.

Pros and cons? The two are basically the same. They look almost identical, the command stucture is set up the same in both, you can even open up 2k games with 2k3 and edit them. 2k3 is basicly just an updated version of 2k.

Rm2k

Pros- You don't have to worry about battle graphics.
Cons- Only supports 20 picture files at a time
-Less Key imput processes
-Battle system is front view, not many people like this

RM2k3

Pros- Alows 40 - 50 picture files (depending on which version you have)
- Has more key imput processes
- Has class options (I never used them though)
- Has a better looking battle system

Cons- Graphics for the battle system can be hard to find.

I say get 2k, if you're new to RPG maker or Get 2k3 if you're not.

I wouldn't reccommend rm2k not even if you're new to rpgmaking since rm2k3 isn't any more difficult to learn cuz it's the same except that it's got tons of more features.

-500 frames in battle anims
-more switches and variables
-View enemy attack battle animations (hanks to the side-view system
-mp3 support
-much more I can't remember.

Heīll probably get XP cuz of the graphics...til he realizes itīs really hard to find graphics for it.

But there is RGSS, which makes it possible to do almost anything you can imagine...Yeah, XP rules over the other, but it is not supported by Charas and hasnīt got many graphics to it.

But, that would be the channel to develop as an artist and programmer...

Wait, sorry. I misread it. I was kinda tired and only saw the 'link......2k3' part.

And I know it. Blame it on Trevlac!
