They're everywhere. Unwantedly poping up in your mailbox, posted on weblogs, and even occasionally, right here on charas PM system. The chain letter. A letter that will give you some spiritual insight, but cast a shadow of damned hate upon you if you fail to spread it's message.

On the outside, it can look cute. It can be nicely decorated or worded fancily.. all just a lure to get you to take a look at it. Once inside, you're often greeted with a "Now that you looked, you have to send it" message, followed by a death threat or something for a lack of compliance. Beyond that, is usually something about love, but less like true love, and more like the (s)kiddy version of what they think love might be, perhaps a reflection of the view of the sad, lonely person who wrote it in the first place. There's an overall tone of a bad Valentines day card.

Or, perhaps instead of some insight on love, it will have you perform silly rituals, like name your favorite {noun}, say the name of a person, or other nonsensical things. Perhaps it may even ask you to make a wish, and all you have to do to make it come true is pass on the letter. Dosent that sound grand? I mean, ur crush will ask u out, or kiss u, regaurdless as to weather or not you have one! However, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, and of course, not even a chain letter is exempt from this law.

Failure to SEND THIS 2 DA NEXT 20 PPL will spawn dire consequences. The LOve of ur life will leave U, u will have the worse day 2maro of ur life, or even... U WILL DEI!!  Why would anyone not want to send this letter of such chaos on, what with such high stakes for not doing so. Not I, not I.

In all seriousness, I dont see how anyone could actually believe in things like these. What really set me off on them is that my 18 year-old friend still believes in chain letters. I could understand if you were the same age as the literacy level of the letter tell us the creator was, but 18?! Jesus Christ! One time I got one... it was like "Send this to 100 people before 12 or you will die at 2 AM tonight." It was like 4 AM. I literally almost fell out of my chain laughing.

I know I probably can't stop it, but maybe I can try to spread the word that... you people should really stop filling up my ****ing mailbox with chain letters. Thank you.

Chain Letters are a plague. I get them a lot and I usually do like MrMister...except for the virus part. It's incredible the amount of persons that actually do what's written on those letters. 'Send this to 10 other people or you will die a tragic death and your girlfriend will leave you'....yeah right, whatever.

Yes, completly and udderly agree. I get them from my aunts all the time, and then I get mail asking if I actually did it or not. It's so freaking annoying.

I hate chain mails. I one time got one that if I didn't send it to 20 people in 5 minutes that in the middle of the a night a girl will appear above my bed and kill me.
Sure, that's very logical.
Those love ones never work(yes, tried one a few years back) and if those murder ones worked... well, you get the picture.
There should be some law against chain-mails. Maybe we could convince Bush that they're from a terrorist cult or something.

I saw one on someone's xanga recently, and I wouldnt have reposted it, but it was late, I was just about to go to bed, I had just watched a scary movie and it said someone would come slaughter me while I was sleeping - but it had no good side, it was just a random story about girls who were slaughtered in their sleep. Just because of the state I was in, I reposted it.

But, yes, I agree with you all - those things suck and people who start them have no life.
