Rock Band Sim
« on: December 04, 2005, 06:20:29 AM »
This one is currently in a very early stage of production, but it's sounding like a good idea while I'm repeating it in my head. And no, I'm not drunk. Or at least less drunk than normal.

-The starting portion dealy of the story-
Riot wakes up in a coffin, and looks around. His coffin is in the centre of a very fancy area of an ancient graveyard, about 15 feet above the rest of it. He escapes the graveyard by finding a [Shining Key], and walks along a bridge to the top of a gigantic grassy hill. I guess the word for that is mountain. He steps onto a ledge and sees a desolate barren valley with no villages, town, cities... um, shacks.. no evidence of wildlife, either.  All he can remember is his name. That's right. An amnesiac. After a few seconds, a bright blue light appears, and two metal head time banditos appear in front of him. "AHH! TIME BANDITOS!"

'Hey dude we're here to recruit you! For our totally kickass band!'
'YEAHHHGHHHHFHJCOUGHYEAHHHHH!'

Riot is confused.

'Oh, he doesn't understand English, Pertu.'
'SH****************************TT, dog!'
'Well grab him and we'll take him back to the year we came from. You know the one.... You know.'
'ROCK OOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN!'

Time bandito Pavo grabs Riot and sticks his hand on the time machine, and they travel to the year 2005, in NYC.

-What it's all about-
Riot, Pertu, and Pavo have to become famous. Riot doesn't actually care, but now he is the lead guitarist/singer of the heavy metal band 'More Than Muffins'.

-Features-
-Unlockable Costumes for all 3 bandmates.
-Use 'Applause Points' to buy different pedals, which have all sorts of awesome effects(like a laser that shoots the audience in the eyes until they are blind)
-Choose many different guitars
-Upgradable guitar which can have different effects on the audience(x2 sound damage, headshot chance upgrade)
-Skills, such as Ambience(gradual damage on entire audience), and Shred(splash damage, entire front row is paralyzed)
-Stage Moves that add multipliers to Applause Points
-Groupies!
-Trash dressing rooms!
and more

Screenshots to come..

The story will be kind of... reverse Lost.
The main characters past is much more mystical than his present.
I mean, his present is totally kickass while his past is moretypical RPG storyline stuff.

I just need a stage chipset/panorama.. :/

If I get the basic gig system going I might add stage props, like when you jump on the giant gargoyle, it breathes fire across the audience. Also relics, like in Castlevania, would be cool.
You aren't trying to 'kill' the audience.. you're trying to melt their faces.

Give all your love to me

A practice session. The cursor is being a bitch to figure out, it's like, arrow keys to move the character, and - + keys to move the cursor.

Why can't you use the arrow keys, does it still move the hero? All you gotta do for that is put on a hero wait repeat or a halt all movement thingie.

No, I want you to be able to move the hero, so you can aim at different fans, and interact with the scenery, like high-fiving R Kelly. It's just lagging when I try to move the character and the cursor at the same time.

EDIT: Never mind, I'll just have the menu toggleyed, where the hero can't move.

Okay, I changed up the menu system.
I only have one minor glitch in the menu, when you toggle the menu, you can't select the first selection until you move the cursor and move it back.

This is the spitting blood stage move..
It starts a mosh in the centre of the audience, which deals random damage for 30 seconds.

Here's a stage prop, giant gargoyle statues.
It makes the fans hit by it mosh, and does major damage to them, and you have to wait for it to fill back up with kerosene.

There's quite a few variables involved, but I can use them all more than once..
Well, I got a lot done today, I hope to get started on the soloing system tomorrow, I'm hoping I can get the solos to be like a fast paced DDR thing that lasts for 10 seconds.

ah, the consept is cool and all, but you should really invest in some better animations. Those don't suit the perpose very well in my opinion.

Yeah, the RTP is really just temporary, I just wanted to get some screenshots out as soon as it was operational.
