Computer knowledgists and otherwise
« on: December 19, 2005, 11:16:58 AM »
So, I've got my new computer. Yay.
Now, is there anyway I can go about transferring my data from me old computer to my new one, keeping in mind there is no network. They are however using the same DSL Modem, and I don't want to spend the rest of the night getting all my [STRIKE]porn[/STRIKE] files off by using the burn to CD/transfer by USB Stick techniques.

Try emailing it to yourself (if you have Gmail it's easier, as you can do it in one go).

Alternatively, get on MSN on both computers and send it to yourself.

*Insert old Hard Drive* *copy wanted files to new Hard Drive* *remove old Hard Drive*
Of course, you can leave your old in it, that's what I did.

That´s right Razor. Take your old HD and put it in the new PC! Put it as an slave, nad you´ll have extra space! If someone is gonna use the old PC, just transfer the data and give the HD back.

Remember to take out the jumper it has, before putting it in the computer, otherwise it won´t recognize it...

What are the specs of the new machine anyway?

Well, I can't exactly do the Hard Drive thing, due to the over protective nature of Mother and other. And the MSN thing would take all day. The GMail might be woth a shot though.
Thanks guys.
And Almeidaboo, I'll spec you up as soon as I find the piece of paper with all the info.

You also can look the specs up in the system info, located in the control panel right?

You can also upload the whole stuff to  this site  and then download it again.

Still, I think you should wait to your parents to take a walk and...

Kidding, just do it if you know how, cause you may break it or hurt yourself (I´m 21 godammit, I can´t give bad advices...)

2 Gig Harddrive, and it runs sweet.
But my first tests will be UT2004 and Doom3 :P

That's nothing! I've got 3.40 GHz here, Along with a Pentium IV processor and 1 GB of ram... Actually, mine's not all that better.

2 GB? That's all you have? Or am I confused with something else? Cause personally, I got 260 GB.

2 GB. If you instal Doom 3, don't plan on anything else. Doom 3 takes up 1.5 gig if I remember it correctly.
