If I can help someone by telling them what is wrong with their map IN MY OPINION, I'll do it. If their map sucks, I'll tell them. If it's good, I tell them. I mean, you don't see me ripping on Robotam do you for mapping.

I guess I didn't translate my thoughts into words too good earlier on this particular subject. I'm not saying your rip on everyone or think you're better then everyone, because I know you don't. It just seems sometimes that when people new to rpg maker show their maps, you put them down because they aren't as good as you are. I don't know if this is the case or not, but thats how I sometimes saw it.

Whether trying to be nice about saying something or being brutenly honest about something is all up to each person. I can't say that one is right and one is wrong. But I do know for a fact that encouraging someone to do better does more than discouraging someone. You know, a lot of these people are trying their best, but just lack the experiance to pull off a good map or script. Thats not something that they should be put down for, they're really trying hard to make it work, so I encourage them to keep on practicing, they often do, and I often see an improvement.

Now noobs or anyone for that matter that go off and say something like 'my game pwns all urs!" or "my game is the best!", then yeah, they deserve to be flamed. And people who aren't willing to put enough of an effort into their games or are too lazy to improve them are also worthy of being flamed. Saying something like 'I'm going to keep the rtp because replacing the gfx is too much work' would be an indecator of this.

 

I mean, have you ever heard back from any of the people that you've helped THAT HAVE LESS THEN 50 POSTS about how great their game is doing thanks to you? How properous it turned out? That they are still continuing it and need more coding aid? (I'm not talking about little things like a N/D system or something, but an ABS or CBS and etc)

As a general rule, I don't help with any great system (cbs, abs, cms, etc) for anyone who deson't have a good knowlage of rpg maker. But I have made an intro for someone a long time ago, and I still talk to them and hear about their game now. The same goes for any major script I make.

 

It just means that you're a nicer person then I am and have more tollerence to stupidity/low expectations then I do.

Trust me, I don't have low expectations, there is hardly an rpg maker game that I'll play through for fun anymore simply because they're not up to my expectations. But instead of giving up on the person, I'll help them along so that their game does eventually reach my expectations.


Anyway, to each his own. I've stated my opinions, trying to push them further won't do anything. So I'll stop argueing. If you have any further statements on this, I may post my reasons on it, but yeah, I'll stop now

I myself know that the Internet is a great place to blow off steam, but it's no excuse for being rude and obnoxious on a forum.

As a member, you are expected to help the forum prosper as a whole. Bashing other people simply because you "feel like it" is generally seen as not helping the forum, whether that fourm is here, another, or even a conversation in real life. You can scream "It's my right" all you want, but remember that Free Speech is not an absolute right; if Alex, Darkfox, Sai or whoever else wanted to limit what you say because they felt it wasn't benefitting anyone else, they could.

Basically, all I'm trying to say is that you do not have the right attitude on this forum, and you should consider treating people with just a bit more respect before coming here again. If you continue to act as you would, rest assured that someone will complain, and you will be punished.

Meisnotcool: You took my profile exactly, meaning you were mimicing me. That's against the rules.
