Gorgimera

I'll grant it's by no means perfect.  But hey, I figured this was a reasonable way to say hello to the forums.

Seriously, tearing across the web, *nobody* had a pic of a gorgimera (at least not a true gorgimera; I'd seen several palette swaps of a chimera).  No, this critter isn't some creation of mine; it's been in AD&D for years, but never had a picture.  Ever.  Obviously, I took an existing resource and gave it the proper modifications.

Good?  Bad?  Missing anything important?

Gorgimeras are like a chimera...the key difference is the goat's head is swapped out with a gorgon's head (the metal bull, not Medusa's sisters).  Some also have the hindquarters of a gorgon (I'm...not that skillfull...).
Anyways, in addition to the fire breath from the dragon's head, they also have the petrifying breath from the gorgon's head.  Also generally have more HP, stronger attacks, better defense, etc.  If you played FF1 on NES, the "JIMERA" was actually "Gorgimera" in the Japanese version.

chimeras are any animal that has multiple DNA strands of difference to one another. Doesn't mean they have to have the wings of an eagel or the head of a goat. Just as long as DNA from one part of the body doesn't match DNA from another part, granted that both parts are parts they were BORN with.

Yeah, a chimera is simply a mythical beast consisting of a snake, lion, and goat. Otherwise its not the mythical beast. Crap like FMA is what said "It can be anything that's more than one critter!". You can't really refer to DNA when explaining a chimera, since the idea of a chimera was birthed thousands of years ago before anyone knew wghat the hell DNA was.

To clarify everything:

A Chimera is a mythical beast, just as ZKX said. However, it also refers to a genetic abnormality where two eggs with different DNA profiles fuse together in the womb, creating a creature with two seperate DNA profiles. More info here.

And thanks for clarifying what a Gorgimera is. Although I've never heard of a bull called a Gorgon, I'll take your word on it.

It's interesting... Truthfully told, there are two gorgons:

The sisters of medusa;

 

Which, well, basically, is medusa...

Then There's the modern fantasy Gorgon:

 

The second type is seen in Dungeons and Dragons but that's about it. Instead of turning people to stone with their gaze, DND Gorgons have toxic breath that can kill peoples.

So THAT'S why the weird bull thing in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrows was called a Gorgon! I always thought that they just wanted their own version of a petrifying beast, as so many companies have been doing lately. And as for that Medusa face, it really is petrifying: I spent damn well near five minutes staring at it!
