Your favourite Final Fantasy and why?
« on: April 12, 2006, 07:49:31 AM »
Omega Weapon is very much infatuated with Final Fantasy to this day!! To this day!!!!

Final Fantasy shall always hold a very special place in our heart....

There are countless good things to be said about it. The games never tried to be more than what they were. The games were better than many movies created these days and just as good as old books of olden yore.

Omega Weapon shall hold a special place in its heart for Final Fantasy 2/4, for telling such a wonderful story. Dont you wonder what has happened with 'that moon'? With Mars? Omega Weapon believes the 'red moon' was Mars. and it had the mars face on it which is probably the game makers trying to solidfy the myth in their own way.

Final Fantasy 3/6 was exceptional in that it had so much content, so many stories. Omega Weapon cares little for the more recent stories of new science fiction films, or films in general! What if by chance FF6 had a different story and the story of Terra and Locke was turned into a film now???? It would suck!!

There is a hidden element which makes you care about the characters and their struggles which is totally absent from fiction in our times!! It brings repulsion to Omega Weapon!!!

Final Fantasy games were never perfect but they never tried to be!! They did not try to get teenagers who like race carting into it! Have you ever tried to get a thug or basketball player to play Final Fantasy game like a racecar game???? It could bring the most stoutest of poets to tears. Final Fantasy was for people who could appreciate beauty and we are all those.

We are angery and sodium that such beauty, created by such a limited bit engine is not admonished by all. Everything Omega Weapon sees now, the Metal Gear Solids, the Halos, the DooM 3s, the Need For Speeds, the Grand Theft Autos, the games for people lacking in spiritual and heroic satisfaction are nothing more than enhancments made towards the same stupid racing car game for idiots!

Not even Zelda is the same anymore! Final Fantasy now? Just like a good story-game, Warcraft, is nothing more than a money-making machine for people who do not care!

That is why independant game makers are the only hope for the taste of beauty left in this story-telling, parallel to films, folklore and books.

Video games can be mindless entertainment for some people but more for other peoples. They can convey a story. They can be better than the crap on the Television or Radio.

That was a tangent but we needed to vent because Omega Weapon finds himself playing the same FFs and Chrono Triggers as we did 5 years ago! Breath of Fire was good too.

Why do not all of the gamers of Charas not form a single project and kick ***???

FF9 is my fav, simply because Zidane looks like David Bowie in his later years.

Final Fantasy Adventure.... if it counts >_<;;.

I've never really been a turn based fan and FFA's Japanese name is Seiken Densetsu and they named it FFA for marketing reasons.

I would have to go with Tatics, I love the game and I've beaten the whole game more than once.

I like it so much because of the story depth. Every character you meet plays a important role. I love the battle system. The game looks clean and has it's own style that most tactic games followed afterwards.

If you are referring to FF2, call it FF2. If you are referring to FF4, call it FF4. If you are referring to FF3, call it FF3. If you are referring to FF6, then also call it FF6. A crossing between two games is impossible, so please refer properly to them.

Here's my whole list, from best to worst in my humble opinion. (although, I can't really speak about the last one.)

First and specially,
FF4. First FF I ever finished. I loved it back then. (although, emulation like usual. Still waiting for a European version of FFIVA.)
FF2. Great game, great battle system. Characters actually die. Alot different from the first, too.
FF8. Everything. Although, summon boosting sometimes goes bothersome. Also wish I had Triple limit breaks.
FF5. Fun to play, fun story, etcetera.
FF3. This should be higher but I don't play it very oftenly. (seeing as it hasn't been released out of Japan it's easier to get it on .nes file than on cartridge.)
FF9. Should also be higher, but I stopped playing it for a long time after accidentally oversaving a save at Memoria with one at Evil Forest.
FF1. Fun game. It entertains alot and contains great stuff in it, but it gets tiring after a few times playing through the game.
FF7. Actually, not much..
FF10. Doesn't really hit me much to try and play.
FF6. PSX version sucks arse. Also should get a complete re-translation, because I don't wanna use 'Merton' on an enemy.
FF11. Impossible to play for me, due to monthly fees. URGH.

Actually compared to other FF games, 9 has less story development. They pile it on near the end.

Omega Weapon can barely fathom a person choosing FF1 over FF2/4

However, Omega Weapon always enjoyed the challenge of the Marsh Cave.

No, Omega Weapon will refer to them as Omega Weapon sees fit. There is little distinction between the games mentioned or their variants, because they are mere variants at least when it comes to Final Fantasy 2 easytype and Final Fantasy 4.

FF3 is also identical to FF6, so please do not muddle them.

Omega Weapon does not acknowledge the PS games btw - they are merely cash-machines made by a company scared that their old games were being downloaded.

We agree with your list.

And in response to other posts, Omega Weapon is kicking himself for not recalling the Game Boy games. They were gems in themselves and far more enthralling than more recent games. The music was also top-notch as well.  :D

FF9 and FF4 because I like the Character and the story. ( although I didn't understand FF4's since I play it in japanese )
FF1 and FF2 are good too, but it's turn based... also, what I didn't like in FF2 is when you get, like, Leon who has 1000 something HP but all other Character are in the 6000. The fact that you get ultima, the ultimate magic... but must level it up because all magic you get are level 1... But, apart from this, FF2 was good.
Never played FF3, FF5, FF6 nor FF11.
I didn't really like FF7... don't know why...
I didn't like FF8 and FF10 at all.
That's for the FF followed by a number.
I liked FFTA. Lots of classes.
Didn't really liked FFL that much.
Currently playing FFL2. Not the greatest, but pretty good.
Never played FFT, FFL3, FFA nor all the others I forgot.

We agree with your list.

In case you haven't noticed yet, Final Fantasy III and VI have nothing in common with eachother except for the thing they called 'Rhodox' in FF6. FF3 contains Light Warriors, Onion Knights and Crystals. FF6 doesn't have this at all. It only has annoying music, ugly (well-made, but ugly) graphics, and a world that evolved far too fast from some FF principals before. There is only a FF2 Easytype in the PSX and GBA versions of FF2. FF2US is equivalent to FF4 with alot of things censored and removed, unlike FF4 Easytype in which they still had certain things. FF4 Easytype had a different version of Zeromus the final boss, just for example of it. I don't have any reason to be argueing and I don't want to.
(Now I want to get back on-topic..)
I agree with Cerebus for a part.
