I just d/l 2 dvd's, which I strongly recommend to anyone with decent ears: Silverchair's Live from Faraway Stables and Green Day's Bullet in a Bible.

Seems that the outstanding work done in American Idiot gave Green Day some new vibration, and then in this show they rock really, really hard, Itīs an aswesome presentation.

After being heavily sick twice (first anorexia and then reactive arthrisis), Silverchair's front man, Daniel Johns, came up with an album that make any of the Beatles members worth only working in the salvation army. Diorama goes far far away from what Silverchair had done before, which could be bad if the album wasnīt a masterpiece of mixing styles and exploring new grounds. Everything showed the band's grownth: the lyrics, the vocals, the intruments, the experiment. And Live from Faraway Stables is about all that, but live. For those who didnīt appreciate the new album, the show is divided in 2 acts and in both the play the heavier songs.

Best thing about Silverchair is that they proved both the media and Lenny Kravitz wrong. The media called them "Nirvana in pajamas": now NIrvana is wearing Silverchair's pajamas, cause these proved to be infinetely better than those. MOre importantly: thank GOd NIrvana is dead. Lenny Kravits said that in rock there were no more guitar riffs to be done, that the possibilities were exausted. The only 90s 00s band I EVER listened that could make brands new riffs and combination of stuff is Silverchair.

I also recommend  SOAD's Mesmerize and Hypnotize, both of them show that SOAD, heavy as it is, should be listened by anyone whoīd like to be considered apart from the ignorant and the monkeys.

Going back in time shouldn't be a bad idea also...Itīs nice to be able to finally understand that the Grunge movement, in the late 80s and early 90s wasnīt just about clothing. DO listen to: Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, and Early Silverchair (FRogstomp) and youīll be able to feel and chain a huge amount of characteristics common to all those bands. You'll probably even change your clothing after that.

Other than that you can try: Offspring, A perfect CIrcle, SLipknot (to break stuff at home), Real Big Fish (to feel young), Nickleback (to sit and enjoy the godly instrument: guitar), Jamie Culllum (with your girlfriend, in bed), Franz Ferdinand (Punk is not dead), Chico Buarque (alright, even if you learn portuguese youīd never understand him...but try, to enhance you musical culture and show off), BECK (not just the real life Beck, but also BEck the anime, for best anime OST) and Spirited Away's OST (to feel that the world still have good things about it).

What about Gorillaz makes you not like them? They branch out with so many different kinds of music from rap to rock, from reggae to Techno. It's almost impossible to not like at least one of their songs.

(Note I said almost impossible)
