I'd rather define my character through their actions in the RP rather than a long boring side story here, but that's just me.

I like a little mixed of both =P

I dont expect people to read it. I expect it to be there and point out later reasons of how my chara acts and things or something.

Well, I like to give a thorugh basis on the character, so you know he is and how he reacts and such. During the rp is when you see how he handles things differently.

I hope that's alright, I haven't RPed here before.
Do you guys use the method where you write for only your character? Or do you use the "continue the story, but focus on your character" method?

A bit of both, BUT that would be done when the rp'er is unable to post for whatever reason..and usually it will prolly be done by me..with the user's premission of course.  :D

I forgot to something...Can ya'll like state what you are...as in civilian, convict, ya know..so that way we all know whose what and what not and there wont be any confusion. Thanks ^^

Well if will be pretty silly if Mid, Kijuki, and I are in a group but I only write about my character. I don't think that having me write dialogue for other people is "puppeteering" as long as I keep my control of their characters as minor. So, I could say that they are attacking someone that they already started attacking in a previous post, or I could have them say dialogue that fits with there chara, or something like that. But I wouldn't have Mid's character randomly try to kill someone (without talking to her first at least anyway) since that would be me controlling her character too much. And obviously I wouldn't injure/kill anyone else without their permission.

Is that what you guys are thinking too?

Yes, Kir.

Well, that's how I usually prefer to do rp's harv but some ppl may get annoyed or offended if they see someone using their character. I would rather it to be done like Harvey said, and if there is a problem with the posts then there is always pm'in and im'in..but of course, this is up to you lot. So..?

Nope. you are pretty much corect Sai.

If you only keep it to you character you end up with one liners.

The only controlling i would is to reflect on what my characters might be doing.

Yeah, thats another reason why I think long bios are important. That way you can get the right kind of dialogue for your posts with other characters. I was in one where my guy was a hardass, and some n00b posted him saying "I think youre pretty cute" and I was like "WTF!?". Puppeting is really more "He shot the arrow and missed, Luke running and stabbing him with a fatal blow". I mean, cmon. Thats not cool.

Bingo. Though you can still get away with with simple profiles.

Like I said I would only control other charas to reflect what I am doing.
I would really even say anything but maybe yes or no. But simple actions.

So it's ok to use them in dialogue as long as they're not out of character?
I've just come from RPs on both extremes- one where you can control only your character and posts are usually about 3 sentences long, and another where you're basically writing a whole chapter. (actually the latter is the story my game is based on ^^)

Sorry if the long bio was a problem ^^. I just thought it's important, because your character's past makes them who they are. If certain circumstances weren't the way they were in the past, then your character might be a completely different person.

I guess Violetta's civilian but if she gets caught, convict.

Your bio is not to long, dun worry about it  :p Yeah, since none seems to be complaining about it then it's fine to use another person's character as long as they're not out of character. If anyone has any complaints then post it here or send a pm. Also,I will post it tonight. :S

Signing up. From the 8th till 12th I'm gone. For this time, I'm giving my character up to be controlled by Mid till my first actual post in the actual RP. Mid, try to limit down your usage on him. Let him be a bit more of an "extra" till I come back. Give him some dialouge, give him some actions and some decisions based on how he is I gave through my bio. Do not, I repeat, NOT give him serious character development. Giving some, I don't mind.

Name: Maximus "Max" Avitus Cicero
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Class: Prisoner
Personality: Relaxed, calm, secure and optimistic. Moderately organized, hard working, and reliable while still remaining flexible, efficient, and fun reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and secretive. Tough, non social, observer, fearless, solitary, libertarian, detached, does not like to lead, outsider, abides the rules, mind over heart, good at saving money, does not like to stand out, does not make friends easily, self sufficient, not aggressive, likes the unknown, unconcerned with external opinion, strong, abstract, independent, very intellectual, analytical, high self control. Seeks conflict, light paranoia, change averse and catious. (Note: This is taken from a personality test. So it's a bit long :P)
Powers/Skills: Has a sixth sense which allows him to 'pick up' traps and dangers that are to come. Also has a relative better sight that most humans.
Weapons and Gear: A scimitar and a simple handgun.
Strengths: Can come up with a good and solid strategy really quick due to his history as a gladiator. Good in close combat fights.
Weaknesses: Non-social. Quiet. Light paranoia. Get's easily annoyed, even by people he has to work with. Kicks on conflicts. Doesn't like working with big groups. (groups with more than 8 people)
Pet Peeves: People who are stuck up with themselves, who think they're the best. Retards, not the mentally handicapped but the others.
Introvert/extrovert: On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being introvert and 10 being extrovert, 4.
Description:
- Hair: Short, messy, black hair with a blue glow.
- Eyes: Brown
- Skin: A bit tanned
- Height:  6'
- weight: 185lbs
- Clothing: A pair of black gloves. A pair of black sport-shoes. A black T-shirt and a pair of deep blue denim jeans.

A little about your character:

Maximus was born in the city of Athana. His father was a working man whom he only saw at night and morning, his mother a housewife. He had no brothers nor sisters nor any relatives in a radius of a 100 miles. The city of Athana wasn't a big one. The population, a little over 500. When the country started to split, the town got split as well.

At this time, he was married and had a daughter and two sons. He lived a mile out of town, away from the conflict. Battle was fought on the streets. Day in day out, screams were heard outside. Two weeks after the first conflict in the town, a legion of the army came. The 421th legion. Without caring, they started slaying the citizens.

The sides teamed up and fought the 421th legion, but they failed. His father got killed in battle, his mother slain soon after. He sent his wife and children over to the next town, grabbed his sword and head into town to help the remaining survivors. Killing, one after another, he got noticed by the commander in charge there. They offered him a deal, to fight for the army as a trained proffesional. He looked him in the eyes and spit him in the face. Mad, the commander did not execute him. He sent him to the House Of Gladiators.

Maximus fought battle after battle there, slaying others who have been sentenced to this death. He learned his wife and children got murdered a week after the attack. With growing hatred, he killed all  his opponents. Later, he was asked again to join the army. To this, he responded that he only wants to join the 421th army.

He got assigned there and send to the battlefield they were at. One by one, sometimes two, three, four or even five at a time, he started killing them all. The ones who murdered his family. The ones who murdered his friends, the people he knew, his wife and children and everyone he cared about. The ones who destroyed his life, and now he gave them payback.

Nine weeks after the country split athorn, when he killed the last one. The commander who ordered the death of his wife and children, he gave himself up. Asking to rot away in a jailcell. Till this day, he still is in that jail.

Been a while since I got in an RP

I hope I can catch up...

Name: Dalfas Dargalot

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Class: Knight

Description: Tall, Red haired, blue eyes, white skin. Has a scar on his right cheek.

Personality: He is reckless, depressive, agressive with his enemies and brave.

Powers/Skills: He is skilled at sword fighting and it is really hard to match him up.

Weapons and Gear: He wears a bright plate armor which belonged to his father, and a shield of the same material with the image of a snake painted on it. He uses a sword called Dargalot's Viper, which has the image of a snake painted on it's double edge, a really sharp sword and very light to use, although it is long.

Strengths: Close combat.

Weaknesses: Long range combat and magic related combat.

Pet Peeves: When someone asks him if he's alright.

Introvert/extrovert: Introvert.

A little about your character: Well, Dalfas is from Lamirka. He and his family where loyal to the king and his family, but during an enormous war, Dalfas' father was murdered by a king's agent, which left Dalfas, who was but a kid with nothing else but his father's armor sword and shield.
After his mother died from a disease when he was 14 years old, Dalfas begun to travel the entire world, training his sword skill and reading politycs books that could help him to rise from his position.
After knowing the state of Lamirka, and ackowledging that the king would fall anytime, he decided to go back to the city to start his revolution plans. He formed a revolutionary group called "The Infernals", with a friend of his called Melwen, a young wizard. But his plans fell apart when the king died, and he could not step forward.
Right now he is gathering his revolutionary friends and is deciding what to do...

Name: Melwen Alrendu
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Class: Wizard
Description: Brown hair and eyes, very beautifuyl.
Personality: Confident and possitive.
Powers/Skills: She is very skilled with her magic, but her knowledge is amazing for her young age.
Weapons and Gear: She wears a long black coat and a wood staff.
Strengths: Ranged combat.
Weaknesses: Close combat.
Pet Peeves: If you try to take a friend of her down.
Introvert/extrovert: Extrovert.
Alittle about your character:
She is the youngest member of the Ancient Order of Wizards.
She met Dalfas when he came back to Lamirka. She was against the king because of that the king had acussed her order of being opositors and had slaughtered all of them, including his friends and parents. She felt identyfied with Dalfas' past (she is the only one who knows about it), so she decided to follow him until he became king. She is very important to Dalfas and is the second in command of "the Infernals".

Ok, those are my characters, now a little information about the Infernals:

The Infernals was a group formed by Dalfas to dethrone the king.It is a little organization with only 100 members. Since the king has died, it's porpuses are now unclear, and many of them are holding a grudge against Dalfas because he took too much time to strike.

Is this good enough????
