It's not like a thick or deep of a cave. It's more of a manmade one. Maybe the Cave of the northern star could use that.

Felix, it was suggested not to make it look deeper. It was suggested so that your maps dont suck. You can change the tileset all you want, but even though youve grown as a mapper, you still have a ways to go.

Try a mist or fog or texture overlay. Would make your map blend really well

I never thought of that. A mist would actually work well for the location he's at.
I know I have ways to go. Hmmm. I need some character sets from Terranigma. (to google)
I need to get more objects that suit the map to fix

A lot of times when things look out of place it's because the colors don't match. You could try picking a uniform color palette and applying to everything in the chipset. It's a bit of tedious work but it can pay off.

Some objects are too bright or too dull compared to the rest of the graphics in the map.  Change the colors, make them look more natural.  Its like when you are painting a wall.  You don't normally paint bright pink in a room full of dark tinted objects.  (Not best example... but whatever.)

Also, here is a picture of what I hope my battle system to look like when I'm done.

What do you think?  Robur's sprite is being reworked to be smaller, so it'll look better.  And his arm is fixed, I just didn't have the updated file at the moment.

EDIT:  Hahaha, I misspelled Roselana's name.  Bahaha

I love the sprites, and I wish the background tiles looked more like them.

Yeah, the message boxes most likely will change, but the backgrounds will be really hard to get to match. =/

Well, I just got the beginning of the system to work.  (It chooses the order of the hero's turns and the enemies, then shows the animation of the enemies, along with set up the stats of the enemies. And I just got my action menu working properly.  Now just to make the actions. -.-")
Its not turning out as complicated as I thought it was going to be, but its not going to be easy, that's for sure!

Thanks for the comments guys!

You might as well have just spoken in a different language....

There are some tuts kickin around that'll explain it a lot better than this, buuuut: a palette is basically a group of colors and their various shades. So, maybe in a single sprite you have : yellow, brown, red, green. Those are your colors. But each of those colors have different shades. In a different sprite you may have the same colors, but completely different shades, hues, etc. So the two sprites don't match even though they're essentially using the same color "palette". The idea is to pick a uniform color palette and apply it to all the sprites and graphics you use so that everything matches. Sometimes graphic styles simply don't work together though, even with the same color palette. I can see some problems with that chipset that simply changing the palette might not fix.

EDIT: btw, AFL, I really like that battle system so far, but it seems that the bottom of the screen could be put to better use.

Yeah, That is where all the text will end up.  I guess it could be smaller, but I'm not sure what I'd put there quite yet.

Nevermind, I know what I'm putting there now.

Besides there actually being no real games on showcase, I still really want to play your game more than any other, AFL!

It's looking pretty cool! :D
