Well I have been working on the story as of late and will finally be able to soon start work on programming it and will spit out a demo ASAHP.

History:At the dawn of time the god Geno created the world of Lugol and brought to creation his helpers the angels, but a disease spread through many of them turning them into demons.

Geno's angels had been turned against him by a demon known as Vekgal. As the war between angels and the demon raged out the tides of battle turned in favor of Geno. Nearing the edge of destruction Vekgal led his troops into the heart of the realm of angles.

As they asscended level after level they reached the 7th level to find Geno blocking their path. As Vekgal and Geno fought a blinding prism of light burst out from Geno. As it faded away the body of Vekgal was thrown from heaven to the realm of mortals.

As his body struck the earth it caused the continent to split. What he left is know know as the black sea. Geno was dieing so he left his second in command Hengal to oversee the protection of Lugol and the angels. The soul of Vekgal was remover from his body and split into three crystals whose location is forgotten.

Characters:
Sledge Gedra
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h150/Chronoman139/SledgeNetha.png
(More later)

The are 5 nations
Veg- A magic ruled kingdom inhabited by frogs.
Naru- A kingdom of humans and is known as the first human kingdom.
Gatsu- A more eastern kingdom ruled by humans.
Grante- A mountainous kingdom which is ruled by the principality of Elves.
Red- A kingdom with all races together that was formed during the revolution.

Prologue:The year is 1581 The Red empire has begun a sudden war wiht the other nations breaking the peace treaty that was signed 251 years ago. As a result of the sudden attack many nations have been caught off guard and are falling fast. What caused this war?

Story:You play a mercenary named Sledge who first enetrs the port town of Rubia tracking down a theif who has been giving you the slip time and time again. But as you finish the first day's work the force of the Red invasion awakes your character as you are thrown right into the war. Working as a mercenary you will have many options on what jobs to do and choices in the game. But it will all lead to the ultimate end to finds Sledge's destiny.

Features:Well for starters it will have 100% custom everything rtp is a no no. I am going to put in a CBS as well as specials and try to have skill combos and put the finishing touches on a magic learning system for your mages in the game. Other than that mini-games and side quests are included. As well as choices on what to do.
(Better now.)

Well the main point of the game isn't entirely focused on the war but by having the war I can make it where you can't spend so much time in each area because of invading forces. So you need to hurry through. And since there is going to be many side stories and people you meet but only until a certain time in the game or you might be before they show up or after so it has to have the war.

*gasp* No! But... What about the obtuse angle of imminent terror?! What about the right angle of punch-your-face-in-dom?! I must know the answers to these questions of... Peril!

There is no such thing as a deadly cliche. Maybe an uber cliche, but not a deadly. Look at Skies of Arcadia. The plost was to collect 6 colored gems, but they managed to change it up enough to make it good.

Well the crystals in my game are just where his soul is being kept.  As you work your way farther into the game you have sequences where you play a solider in the Red army. You use him to get the story of the Red Empire.

Basically in a nutshell one of the main generals Shomu goes a little crazy as well as most of the other generals(Shomu main villan (eventually) ). But the Sci. corps of the Red Empire have been doing research on a fragment of an ancient monster that contains a mysterious element. (The one that changed the angels.)

As the Sci. Corps continue to reseach the effects of the element that fiond it has side effects. The people with strong will power have the ability to control this power while others just lose control and become out of contact with reality. (but this is eventually happening to everyone who is infected.)

Unlike other games where they want to revive the satanic ultima demon this one will have a twist that leads into a different spin. Though I might change the crystals because as you say yes they are very much a cliche.  I am try many ways to make it new but that is kind of hard considering what has been done to date. But a surprise end with many other twists should make it entertaining.

It's too bad that he just mispelled angel... here I thought we were going to have a super innovative game... oh well, perhaps later. The storyline is only semi-cliche if you overlook the crystals *screams in terror*. It all really depends on how you pull it off...

Also, cliches can be deadly, one killed my dog.

OH! Why is the empire called the "Red Empire"? Is that some sort of Russian joke? Gah! Everyone messes with the Russians, cut them some slack!

Dear plastic ninja: Nick please shut up DDE will never rise and you are bound to failure.

And the point of them being name the Red Empire isn't a russian joke. In the game a lot of backstory is told and even how the Red empire got it's name.

Basically the leader of the rebels rode out onto the battle field in red armour. Giving the nation it's name on the battlefield.
