It's just one thing after another...
« on: July 05, 2006, 04:43:05 PM »
Long story short, my computer gave me the finger, and now it won't even load the first screen with the BIOS prompt and all that. So my avaialbliity time will be limited until further notice. I really need to get a new computer...

Something similar happened to me once.  But, in exchange, I got to live the dream.  I got to act out the scene in Office Space with the copier machine with my desktop.  It was swell.

Good luck with you're new computer finding.  If you lived in my area, I could hook you up, because i have three connections to a computer company, all in my household.  In fact...I have like 3 computers in my room that are waiting to be sold...I get to play with them until they get sold.  Woo-hoo for me.

I feel your pain.

I have a 2000 Dell, slow as ****, and crashes about half the time I use RPG maker or anything else.  Hopefully, I can get a new comp. some time soon too.  In the meantime, I would suggest moving all the files you want to keep to a junk drive or burning a bunch of CDs.  Either that or get a really big external hard drive like I did.  That way, you don't have to reinstall all your crap.

Have you tried backing up your files and then formatting your HD? Because that happens to my brother sometimes.

Well, no. It doesn't even load. I can't access Windows or anything. So, unless I find some way to boot my comp up externally, all my stuff is lost.

Speaking of which, is there any cheap way to do that?

Your comp really hates you, doesn't it?

Remove the HD, slip it into another comp, or a HD enclosure. The same thing happened to me. I just took the compy apart. Fun. Im surprised that motherboards have resistors that aren't available on the norm electronics parts market.

Heh heh, Dren, you're a bit too late.

I got my computer back. Luckily, all my stuff is okay, and the problem was my monitor for whatever bizarre reason. But my power supply fan's not running at optimal power, and I won't be able to replace it for a week, so I'll still have limited access. But at least I don't have to start over. :)

Oh yes, this is nothing compared to my basement being flooded, my bestfriend moving away, a small portion of my basement catching on fire AFTER we moved everything back into the basement, and smoke damage. Yes, this is much worse.
