Is it worth een for a guy that does not like FPRPGs???? Is the 3rd person view worth playing the game?

I have the game for my Xbox, and even if the third person mode is poorly made, I love it. I only ever use first person mode for casting spells / archery, and I almost never do that anyways.

It'll turn you around. :P But yes, you can keep it on third person all the time, if you want, although I personally find that to be counter-intuitive, especially with a mouse.

If you do get it  for PC (And I HIGHLY recommend it), you should get mods for it. Play through it first, and once you feel you've had a decent taste, head on over to  the Oblivion Mod forums to check out what's in development and already been released. Be sure to check out the forum stickies, as they answer many questions, including giving links to lists of mods that are recommended for the game.

The Oblivion mod community is one of the most active and amazing ones I've ever seen - there's no shortage of quality mods, including new quests, armor, races, hair, beards, bodies, horses, books, spells, weapons, music, HUD replacements, User Interface mods, basically everything.

As for the 3rd person, In the default, vanilla oblivion, the 3rd person camera is very sluggish, with slow following of your turns and movements. There's a mod on the official forums that tightens up the camera control, so I strongly suggest you get that one.

Anyway, thanks for the tips! The thread is open for more Oblivion-related posts!

This reminds me that I need to tell my friend to hurry the hell up with it. I let him borrow it so he and his dad could play it, and it's been about a month now... I know it's a huge game, but he could at least say "here, I know you've been aching for it", right?

Also, I need to mod my copy up. Any "must have" mods suggestions from you guys would be great.

The mod lists at the official forums do a pretty damn good job, but you do have to make some choices on things, like if you want to run Francesco's or Obscuro's for overall balancing.

I prefer Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul for balancing (and all the other crap it adds), Natural Environments, and AF's Levelling mod. And I'm going nuts waiting for tda's Armory.

Don't buy any of the official mods. They're horrible.

Buy mods? For shame; it's not a mod if you have to pay for it, it's a small, worthless expansion! Buying mods... Pff!

Same diff. Mehrune's Razor was already in about three or four player-made mods before Bethesda got around to adding it in a plugin.

I pirated for the PC. My computer barely lost to it. So close, but it ran too slow.

If you still want to play it, you can get  Oldblivion to help out. It makes the game run MUCH better, and not look too bad while doing it, either, on older computers.
