Anarchies of War
« on: November 23, 2006, 07:07:17 AM »
Ahem....

I am going to make a game using rm2k3(and later convert it to TI83 asm, if people think its good enough...), but I don't want to make it with the storyline I have in mind, have hundreds of people hate it, then become discouraged because I am halfway through. So I present to you my story...

In an alternate world, in an age similiar to Earth's industrial era, there is only one, empirical government governing the people. However, this government rules with an iron fist, not even allowing people to have their own thoughts. A rebel group has formed to overthrow this government, but faces opposition with the very people themselves. This is due in part because the Empire portrays the rebel group as wanting to destroy all the peace in the world, and also in part because ignorance is bliss.

Moving on...

The main character is Deja, a young female scholar. She is outcast by the Empire, because of her tendency to critique the Empire in her personal journal, meant for private eyes only. However, because the Empire is so bent on controlling the people, it eventually falls into the hands of a peasant, who gives it to the Empire. While running away, she encounters members of the Rebellion, who take her in. And thusly it begins....

Note: This game will not end with some guy trying to become a god, or something like that. Too many games with political struggles end that way, and it is always a bad idea(Ex: Certain Games):)

Please comment.

EDIT: I changed it for ya, gemini :)

Sumimasen!!
Lo seinto!!

(all of the above translate into sorry, in English, Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese, respectively)
I just want you to know that the game doesn't really end that way, it just feels like it....

I am really sorry!! :(
And what do you mean by systems??

If it's one single empire that sounds an awful lot like some type of totalitarian rule, wouldn't they kill her instead of just telling her 'shoo, go away'? Usually in governments like that, when they make you 'go away', they make you go away so there 's no chance of you comin back.

Zerokirby: Well, in the game, due to her "connections" with some people higher up, she finds out before hand and runs. She "considers" herself outcast. But yeah....the government wants to kill her. Don't worry, she won't be a rebel either(too cliche). I'm actually going to model the government a bit after the CCP. They are experts at crushing the peoples thoughts.

As for special systems and features:

Hopefully a CBS(just so I don't have to use BChars)
A CMS
A Catepillar system(not so special, I know, but still...)
There will be a monster on map system
There will also be a action key(Like in BOFI,II,III, IV)
And for this game, until it recieves a decent demo and people know I am serious about it, I will be using generated characters.
There will be a skill learning system(you will not be able to learn skills from battles, it just never made sense to me. Someone is stronger and suddenly they also have stronger powers they have never trained for???? WTF!)

I also have other ideas in mind, but I don't want to give it all away...

Oh, if I use a cbs, it will definitely have compatibilities for monster catching(Dragon Monster, anyone?) They would stay with you for as long as they have health, but you can only have one at a time, and they can't be healed. Period.
Edit: There won't be a monster system. Sounds cool, but I am too lazy for all of that coding....

Looks good. You might wanna change the name from "Empire" to something a liettle less cliché. Otherwise it's really good.

Well, certain cliches are cliche because they apply the most. If it's an empire, it's an empire. Not much else to call it.

A confederacy consists of severeal smaller groups/countries forming together to operate as one large one while retaining indivdual identification. If it's all considered one giant empire, it'd be just that, an empire. As long as he doesn't add the adjective "dark" or "evil" I think just calling it an empire is fine.

But don't they still have to be separate states which possess individual control over their territory?

In a sense.

But...

There is still a set of laws/rules enforced within the commonwealth. "God save the queen". I had to sing that in canadian school. Still a primary figurehead.

And thats kindof a nice twist to it. If its a totalitarian unit, A nice way to word it is Commonwealth. Like Calling A communist nation "socailist"
Or a mongoloid "opportunity student"
