Twilight Princess
« on: December 28, 2006, 03:11:25 AM »
I went gift card shopping today. I had a little extra money left over from Christmas so I got this. As it turns out, this game was selling out everywhere. I managed to find it at Circuit City.

It's turning out to be a cool game. I can't really enjoy it. My Gamecube controllers are a little broken. I can't run in a straight line, and the Yellow C stick clicks on itself. Soon I'll get another controller. I didn't know they would affect the game this much.

Are you a fan of the Zelda games? I've never really been a fan of them, but I do acknowledge them as good games. I even have Windwaker. These games are probably what got me interested in games like Ico.

If you have it, how does this play on the Wii? What's your favorite Zelda game? Do you like this game? Random Stuff.

The Wii version is pretty cool. All you use the wiimote for is aiming and slashing.

"I even have Wind Waker"? What's that supposed to mean?
The Wii version controls just fine, it even surprises me how good it feels to play that way. From what I hear, the GameCube version is a mirrored version of the Wii version (or vice-versa, actually), so I ask you this: Is Kakariko Village on the left side of the map or the right side?
I love the Zelda series, it's my favorite series of all time. My personal favorite game is A Link to the Past, followed closely by Link's Awakening, and in a near-tie third comes Twilight Princess. The rest are too close to call, so they all tie for forth place.

I meant that I have The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. I play it sometimes, but it is not my favorite game. I know when something is a good game, even though I don't play it that much.

I put Windwaker as one word. That's enough to show I'm not a fanboy. That honor goes to Final Fantasy. :p I do  like these games though.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Ocarina of Time. I never had it, but a friend of mine did. I would go to his house to play it.

Edit
Forgot your other question. That's the first town right? The main part of the town with the river and the shops is on the left side. So is the Goat ranch.

Another Edit...
Is this what you were talking about?

Yeah, that link says what I thought it would, and no, Kakariko is the deserted town you encounter early on. You'll find out soon enough, I think.

Heh, I'm typing this on my brand new Wii right now. I bought TP with it, but haven't had a chance to try it out. Hopefully it's as good as you guys say.

I'm an easily exhausted person, and I have a lot of games that I spread my time amongst, so I haven't beaten this game yet. I just finished the Temple of Time part today, and I've been playing since the Wii released (November 19), so that gives you a scale of how fast I progress. Plus I play the game very thoroughly, so that takes time as well. I think I might beat the game in a couple of weeks, but that's assuming I don't spend too much time on other prospects.

Got it, played it, loved it.

Actually I think that Wind Waker is better than Ocarina of Time. Sure, OoT has its merit, and started the whole thing about bosses being epic, but WW took that to new heights. (which was pushed further by Twilight Princess) Not to mention that the areas in WW were huge, and still, the Gamecube was able to hold up. Just look at the draw distances from island to island.. And there weren't even any load times while exploring the sea.

Back to TP, yes the entire map, puzzles, and absolutely exerything is reversed on the Gamecube version.. Or rather I should say flipped back to its origional position. While I did not read what aboutsoandthis posted, I know that the reason that link was reversed was so people wouldn't get confused with swinging the right hand to make the left hand attack.. How that would occur I have no clue.

It was very smart of nintendo to hold back the GC version of TP for the Wii.. That way they could have a killer app right at launch and have a significant boost in Wii sales.

Wind Waker's lack of loading times in the overworld was due to the fact that it took so ****ing long to sail from one island to the next that all the game had to do in the meantime while you were sailing was preload the island - notice that as you sail to an island all you see is it's gray silhouette. That's hardly "huge draw distance" as much as "placeholder".

Wind Waker was too easy for me to play through it more than once. Maybe I'll go back to it and play through it again, it's worth that much, but I do that with most games after about a year, so meh.

I think WW got a bad rep cause of its style. I loved it.

Likewise. I really did like Wind Waker, even if it had its faults.
