really need help

im cumin up to a bit in my game where you can buy a ship and sail to different islands and i need to know how i can make da boat so after a certain amount of time itl board the island eg. a captain first asks where i wanna go, then depending on distance it will take say a minute until it says "where here" then transferes da player to an island

You cant have a "Good" understanding of events, without at least being familiar with switch and variable operations.


Read up. Educate. Tutorialize. (is that a word?)

And in XP.....Local switchez are your friend when variables confuse you

Seriously though....

What you want to do desperatly needs switches.
And multiple Pages of eventing.
And use of variables would be awesome. It would make alot less work for you.

If you dont understand switches and variables, Us telling you how to do this is not going to help because The next  time you want to do anything more advanced than basic NPC interaction, youre going to feel compelled to ask for help Again.

Like I said, Learn. Use some tuts.

Conditional branches would be a great thing to read up on as well, but hold off on this until you have a good understanding of Switches, and then variables.


I found, to understand them well, rather than just reading an explanation of the two, try making a game clock, and a day and night system.

Google "RMXP tutorials"

Try doing it a few ways.

This, allthough it is not what you are looking for, is a good game feature to educate yourself with if you need to learn.

Anyway they're right, you need to have a look at the switch tutorials at least, it's essential. I doubt anyone could becum a semi-decent rpgmaker without those basics.
