The Iraq War
« on: February 17, 2007, 12:22:48 AM »
Well, in 2008, all you of age America chaps will be voting in your new president. Between the black guy, the woman, the spanish guy and the dumb guy, it'll certainly be an interesting election.

Now, if the black guy, Obama gets elected, he wants to pull out all of America's forces from Iraq. This is one of the more known things about Obama, especially here in Australia.
John Howard, our prime minister, is bestest friends forever with George Bush, supporting a war that like, most of Australia do not want. Ol' Johnny's been on the offensive, saying that pulling out of Iraq will be detrimental to stuff of sorts.

So, what if next year, Obama wins presidency, Rudd wins Prime Minister-ship, and everyone takes their troops out of Iraq?

What do you think would happen?

EDIT: Hum. His official website contradicts everything I've previously read about him. Well, either way...

I like Obama's views, but I don't think he would make an effective president. He has little experience, and most of his major bills were joint projects that he had help on. True, he is open to compromise with the Republicans (And thus can get more done, supposedly), but he's just not decisive. He had to form an exploratory committee to figure out if he wanted to be President or not.

Hilary Clinton, on the other hand, has already showed that she can make a plan and execute it. During her time as the first lady she made some great strides towards universal healthcare, and whether you support that or not, you can't deny she did a decent job of trying to get it passed (It was barred by the Republican Congress).

There's some controversy over how she voted to invade Iraq, but at this point she's vehemently against it - people change their minds, it's not that big of a deal. The fact is, whatever she does, she will do, which will be a nice change after the stagnant condition that Iraq has been in for awhile.

Well actually what I was trying to ask is if we pull out of Iraq, what happens? Terrorists wins, more trade centers are blown up, they relent, what what what?

We pull out with a trained police force and government that has had experience working on it's own (With military help intervening only in worst cases), and the country has a chance at keeping it's troubles in itself, although solving the religious wars is still something that doesn't have an immediate solution.

We pull out straight away, and the country falls apart. Iran gets pissed because they will feel a sudden surge of immigrants escaping the ensuing chaos, and we only make more enemies.

Indeed. If we can get a force or Iraqis that know what they're doing, I'd be all for us pulling out. I don't want us over there, but I think we need to be for now at least. We pull out now however, it becomes total anarchy and the country destroys itself.

While I don't like any of the candidates, I'd sooner move to Siberia then have Clinton win.

We need to get out of Iraq, now. The Iraqi people had nothing to do with 9/11, they have nothing to do with WMDs, and they have nothing to do with us. They are quite hostile towards us, but that's their decision. As a matter of fact, I have a quote from Bush himself when asked what Iraq had to do with 9/11 (the original excuse for going there): "Nothing!" Point is, we're there for strictly political reasons. I'm gonna be 18 by then, so I'll be voting then. Not sure who to vote for (there aren't any good politicians anymore), but I damn sure ain't voting for Hillary.

That anti-violent game whore.

I'm pretty sure a Republican president will win again, unless the electoral college gets axed. I should be a Republican. Why all the screw ups?_sweat_

While I really like Obama (black dude, from Illinois, I got to meet him once which was cool), I don't really see him as president. I mean...he has been a senator for what, two years?

If I had to pick, it would be Hilary Clinton. That's not saying much.

I'd have to say that Obama would be the best choice for president. And don't start that "inexperienced" crap with me, many of our 'better' presidents were inexperienced in politics. Ronald Reagan was an actor.

As for the Iraq war, we should only pull out after we stabilize it. If we pull out immediately, it will cause more damage and suffering than just staying there.

Better yet, let's just cut all ties to the middle east. That place is waaay too chaotic.

He was also the Governor of California. Looks like you're inexperienced at American History.

Its all rigged, in my opinion...
BUT...

Its gonna Appear like its between Obama and Clinton

Obama will lose, but nobody can call bunk, because "Hey, Its a woman! Its not discriminatory! See?!?"

The Oil does come from Canada though.
Alberta. The biggest boom in the effin world is goin down here.
Even the hobos have jobs. Theres a HUGE shortage of Service Industry workers because of all the ridiculous paying Oilfield Jobs.

The Whole Middle east thing is Just a diversion from the Jews trying to Destroy the world.

Um....That was just my Opinion is all.

She may be a woman, but Obama is black, so it works both ways.

Anyway, we shouldn't pull out of Iraq, that'd pretty much be the stupidest thing we could do. We're not fighting the people, we're not going off and killing the people, we're fighting terrorism. Yeah, I don't  think we should have ever gone in there, but we did. If we pull out now, the country is going to crumble, and even more harm will be done.

I'm not one for imposing our ways on other countries, I think we should just stick to ourselves, but in some cases, dropping everything and leaving would be just stupid. We should leave, but slowly.

It'll be Obama against Hilary for the Democratic ticket. I think Obama can score points with Republicans easy, since most Republicans hate her. I agree with Moose on the point of Hilary being decisive, which is a good thing to have, but I don't really know about her. I don't know much about her to make any real remarks on her. I'm just going to see who it boils down to to make my decision.
